Description: Neuronal pentraxins constitute a family of proteins that are homologous to C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum amyloid P component (SAP), including NPTX1, NPTX2, and the neuronal pentraxin receptor (NPTXR). NPTX2, also known as NARP (neuronal activity-regulated pentaxin), is secreted protein involved in excitatory synapse formation. It also plays a role in clustering of alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA)-type glutamate receptors at established synapses, resulting in non-apoptotic cell death of dopaminergic nerve cells. NPTX2 is highly up-regulated in the Parkinson's disease (PD), suggesting it may be involved in the pathology of PD.

Description: β-NADP is a coenzyme necessary for the alcoholic fermentation of glucose and the oxidative dehydrogenation of other substances. It occurs widely in living tissue, especially in the liver. Nicotinic acid can be converted to nicotinamide in the body and, in this form, is found as a component of two oxidation-reduction coenzymes: nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). The nicotinamide portion of the coenzyme transfers hydrogens by alternating between oxidized quaternary nitrogen and a reduced tertiary nitrogen. NADP is an essential coenzyme for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase which catalyzes the oxidation of glucose-6-phosphate to 6-phosphogluconic acid. This reaction initiates metabolism of glucose by a pathway other than the citric acid cycle. This route is known as the hexose phosphate shunt or phosphogluconate pathway. Other enzymes which utilize NADP as a coenzyme are: Alcohol dehydrogenase:NADP dependent; Aromatic ADH:NADP dependent; Ferredoxin-NADP reductase; L-Fucose dehydrogenase; Gabase; Galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase; Glucose dehydrogenase; L-Glutamic dehydrogenase; Glycerol dehydrogenase:NADP specific; Isocitric dehydrogenase; Malic enzymes; 5,10-Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase; 6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenase and Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase.

Description: Protein kinase, AMP-activated, gamma 1 non-catalytic subunit (PRKAG1, synonyms: AMPKG, MGC8666) is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an catalytic subunit, and non-catalytic and subunits. AMPK is an important energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic stresses, AMPK is activated, and thus phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and -hydroxy-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in regulating de novo biosynthesis of fatty acid and cholesterol. This subunit is one of the gamma regulatory subunits of AMPK.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: AMPK is a heterotrimeric complex comprising a catalytic a subunit and regulatory b and g subunits. It protects cells from stresses that cause ATP depletion by switching off ATP-consuming biosynthetic pathways. AMPK is activated by high AMP and low ATP through a mechanism involving allosteric regulation, promotion of phosphorylation by an upstream protein kinase known as AMPK kinase and inhibition of dephosphorylation. Activated AMPK can phosphorylate and regulate in vivo hydroxy-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase and acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which are key regulatory enzymes of sterol synthesis and fatty acid synthesis, respectively. The human AMPKa1 and AMPKa2 genes encode 548 amino acid and 552 amino acid proteins, respectively. Human AMPKb1 encodes a 271 amino acid protein and human AMPKb2 encodes a 272 amino acid protein. The human AMPKg1 gene encodes a 331 amino acid protein. Human AMPKg2 and AMPKg3, which are 569 and 492 amino acid proteins, respectively, contain unique N-terminal domains and may participate directly in the binding of AMP within the AMPK complex.

Description: Offering a high degree of UV transmittance, low particle count, low acidity and alkalinity, and low evaporation residue level, LiChrosolv® solvents are ideal for reproducible separations. They are produced from specially selected raw materials, and undergo a number of purification steps prior to final packaging. Since separations are normally carried out under gradient conditions in analytical HPLC, Merck Millipore offer solvents in ’gradient grade’ as well as ’isocratic grade’. This enables you to minimise the gradient effect of the solvent involved.
