Supplier: Genetex
Description: Osteocalcin belongs to the osteocalcin / matrix Gla-protein family and constitutes 1-2% of the total bone protein. It binds strongly to apatite and calcium. Gamma-carboxyglutamate residues are formed by vitamin K dependent carboxylation. These residues are essential for the binding of calcium.

Catalog Number: (CAPIPA5-18617)
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: This antibody is predicted to react with canine, mouse and rat based on sequence homology. This gene encodes a member of the beta subunit family of voltage-dependent calcium channel complex proteins. calcium channels mediate the influx of calcium ions into the cell upon membrane polarization and consist of a complex of alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta, and gamma subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. Various versions of each of these subunits exist, either expressed from similar genes or the result of alternative splicing. The protein encoded by this locus plays an important role in calcium channel function by modulating G protein inhibition, increasing peak calcium current, controlling the alpha-1 subunit membrane targeting and shifting the voltage dependence of activation and inactivation. Certain mutations in this gene have been associated with idiopathic generalized epilepsy and juvenile myoclonic epilepsy . Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Supplier: Prosci
Description: EFCAB4B Antibody: EFCAB4B, also known as Calcium release-activated Calcium channel regulator 2A, is a novel Ca2+-binding EF-hand protein that is thought to play a key role in store-operated Ca2+ entry in T-cells by regulating CRAC channel activation. EFCAB4B acts as a cytoplasmic Calcium-sensor that forms a complex with ORAI1 and STIM1 at the junctional regions between the plasma membrane and the endoplasmic reticulum upon low Ca2+ concentration. A closely related protein, EFCAB4A, is likely to play a similar role as EFCAB4B, but the detailed function of EFCAB4A is still under investigation.

Description: This gene encodes a calcium transporter that localizes to the mitochondrial inner membrane. The encoded protein interacts with mitochondrial calcium uptake 1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. (provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012).

Catalog Number: (10347-708)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: This gene encodes an alpha-1 subunit of a voltage-dependent calcium channel. calcium channels mediate the influx of calcium ions into the cell upon membrane polarization. The alpha-1 subunit consists of 24 transmembrane segments and forms the pore through which ions pass into the cell. The calcium channel consists of a complex of alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta, and gamma subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. There are multiple isoforms of each of these proteins, either encoded by different genes or the result of alternative splicing of transcripts. The protein encoded by this gene binds to and is inhibited by dihydropyridine. Alternative splicing results in many transcript variants encoding different proteins. [provided by RefSeq]

Description: Potassium channels are a group of ubiquitously expressed proteins that serve numerous functions in excitable and non-excitable cells. One class of integral membrane potassium channels is the large conductance, calcium-activated potassium channel (Maxi K+). Maxi K+ differs from most other potassium channels in that its activation is controlled by both increases in intracellular calcium and by membrane depolarization. Maxi K+ dual activation is possible because of its structure. The core of the channel, which is similar to other potassium channels, is a Maxi K+ alpha homotetramer that contains both a voltage sensor and an intracellular calcium binding domain. In vascular smooth muscle, an auxiliary beta-subunit is found in a 1:1 stoichiometry. The beta-subunit exhibits its effect on the Maxi K+ channel by effectively decreasing by 5- to 10- fold the concentration of calcium required to keep the pore open. Maxi K+ beta is the target for possible therapeutics because of its role in blood flow and blood pressure regulation.

Description: ASPH is thought to play an important role in calcium homeostasis. Alternative splicing of this gene results in five transcript variants which vary in protein translation, the coding of catalytic domains, and tissue expression. Variation among these transcripts impacts their functions which involve roles in the calcium storage and release process in the endoplasmic and sarcoplasmic reticulum as well as hydroxylation of aspartic acid and asparagine in epidermal growth factor-like domains of various proteins. This gene is thought to play an important role in calcium homeostasis.
