Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: The amine group is the most common target for modifying protein molecules because it is abundant in the majority of proteins either due to the presence of lysine bearing amino side chain functionality or the N-terminal-amine. Amine-reactive biotinylation reagents can be divided into two groups based on water solubility: NHS-esters and sulfo-NHS-esters.

Description: Each membrane protein has its native lipid environment. Therefore, each lipid environment is unique to each membrane protein. Moreover, it is this lipid environment that synthetic polymers like AASTYs interact with. Therefore, one needs a broader selection of polymers since there is not one AASTY that fits each phospholipid composition. To address this question, AASTYs come in three different ratios of acrylic acid to styrene. The ratios differ in hydrophilic property of AASTY, which results in different affinities to varying membrane lipid compositions. The second feature to screen for when it comes to AASTY is the size of the resulting nanodiscs. One of AASTY's most excellent features, compared to SMA or DIBMA, is that its nanodiscs are pretty uniform in size. Therefore, the correct fitting nanodisc size must be determined before.

Description: PIAS4(protein inhibitor of activated STAT protein 4) is also named as PIASG, PIASy and belongs to the PIAS family. It enhanced the conjugation of SUMO2 to GATA2 through its E3 SUMO ligase activity. TGF-b can up-regulates PLAS4 expression in MCs to down-regulatea-SMA gene transcription by the interaction with E12 and PLAS4 predominantly acts as E3 ligases for E12 in MCs among PIAS family members . This protein can be sumoylated and Lys-35 is the main site of sumoylation.

Description: ACTA2 (also known as α-smooth muscle actin or α-SMA) belongs to the actin family. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells. ACTA2 is primarily expressed in vascular smooth muscle and anti-ACTA2 is commonly used to marker smooth muscle cells. This antibody is specific to the ACTA2. It selectively stains the vascular smooth muscle but not cardiac or skeletal muscle.

Supplier: G-Biosciences
Description: Ponceau S is a rapid and reversible stain for detecting protein bands on Western blot membranes and can be used with PVDF, nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate membranes*. Ponceau S is a negative stain, which binds to the positively charged amino groups of the protein and it also binds non‐covalently to non‐polar regions in the protein.

Description: Smad3 encoded by this gene belongs to the SMAD, a family of proteins similar to the gene products of the Drosophila gene 'mothers against decapentaplegic' (Mad) and the C. elegans gene Sma. SMAD proteins are signal transducers and transcriptional modulators that mediate multiple signaling pathways. This protein functions as a transcriptional modulator activated by transforming growth factor-beta and is thought to play a role in the regulation of carcinogenesis.

Supplier: CUBE BIOTECH
Description: With diisobutylene-maleic acid (DIBMA), you can directly extract membrane proteins from cells without an intermediate step of detergent solubilization, like with SDS, which would usually interfere with the protein's function. Another advantage of DIBMA as a tool for protein solubilization is the lack of an absorbance maxima at 280 nm. In comparison to SMAs, this would usually interfere with protein quantification, as aromatic amino acids absorb at the same spectrum.

Description: The use of biotin for non-radioactive labeling of proteins and nucleic acids has now become an increasingly popular technique in life science research

Supplier: Prosci
Description: GTF2 is encoded by a gene that is part of a 500 kb inverted duplication on chromosome 5q13. This duplicated region contains at least four genes and repetitive elements which make it prone to rearrangements and deletions. The repetitiveness and complexity of the sequence have also caused difficulty in determining the organization of this genomic region. This gene is within the telomeric copy of the duplication. Deletion of this gene sometimes accompanies deletion of the neighboring SMN1 gene in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) patients but it is unclear if deletion of this gene contributes to the SMA phenotype. This gene encodes the 44 kDa subunit of RNA polymerase II transcription initiation factor IIH which is involved in basal transcription and nucleotide excision repair. Transcript variants for this gene have been described, but their full length nature has not been determined. A second copy of this gene within the centromeric copy of the duplication has been described in the literature. It is reported to be different by either two or four base pairs; however, no sequence data is currently available for the centromeric copy of the gene.

Supplier: Thermo Scientific Chemicals
Supplier: CUBE BIOTECH
Description: The SMALP products have been developed for biomedical purposes, in particular, for the solubilization of (biological) lipid membranes and isolation & purification of integral membrane proteins.
After solving the SMA + buffer powder in water, the product is ready-to-use. It can primarily used for all cell membrane hosts, including bacteria, yeast, and human cells. After successful solubilization of the membrane protein, the protein can be purified using affinity chromatography. For membrane protein purification we recommend using the Rho1D4-tag. Cube Biotech offers matching products for this purpose.

Description: The FO-6000 is a continuous fiber optic light source featuring an extended visible part of the light source (380 to 1700 nm). It has a SMA fiber optic connector. Both, shutter and lamp can be controlled via a switch or external TTL triggering. This light source offers a wide assortment of applications. A special feature of the FO-6000 is its color balancing optics, which shifts the usable range of the light source from traditional 420 nm down to 380 nm wavelength. Due to its thermally controlled optical bench, it is particularly suitable for low noise and low drift applications.

Description: Sulfotransferase enzymes catalyze the sulfate conjugation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. These cytosolic enzymes are different in their tissue distributions and substrate specificities. The gene structure (number and length of exons) is similar among family members. This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the SULT1 subfamily, responsible for transferring a sulfo moiety from PAPS to phenol-containing compounds. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. (provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008).
