Catalog Number: (H-1780.0001BA)
Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: The major physiological roles of Arg-Vasopressin are regulation of water balance in animals (antidiuretic action) and contraction of arterioles (vasopressor action). CAS number (argipressin acetate): 129979-57-3.

Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: The chromogenic substrate pEPR-pNA has been used for the determination of kinetic constants of tryptase (EC 3.4.21.59) from guinea pig (Km = 0.24 - 0.26 mM) and human (Km = 0.24 - 0.43 mM). Pyr-Pro-Arg-pNA has also been used as substrate for the coagulation factor XIa. Km and kcat values for this substrate were 0.56 mM and 350 s⁻¹, respectively.

Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: The fluorogenic substrate pERTKR-AMC is efficiently cleaved by furin, a mammalian homolog of the yeast Kex2 endoprotease (kcat/Km approx. 2·10⁴ M-¹s-¹). As a calcium-dependent serine protease associated with Golgi membranes, furin is responsible for the secretory processing of precursor proteins at paired basic residues. Also cleaved by proprotein convertase 4. IpERTKR-AMC is an excellent substrate for flavivirin.

Catalog Number: (CAAAJ65468-LB0)
Supplier: Thermo Scientific Chemicals
Description: Fragment from cell-attachment domain of fibronectin; a cell-attachment peptide.

Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: The central E region of fibrin contains two sets of polymerization knobs, A and B, that are cryptic in fibrinogen but become exposed after thrombin cleavage of fibrinopeptide A (FpA) and fibrinopeptide B (FpB) from the N-terminus of the Aα- and Bβ-chains, respectively. The location of the binding holes and possible models for knob-hole interactions are known from X-ray crystallographic studies using synthetic peptide analogs of knobs A and B. When fibrinogen fragment D and double-D are crystallized in the presence of both peptide analogs, the knob A peptide mimic H-Gly-Pro-Arg-Pro-NH₂ (GPRP-amide, H-1998) forms H-bond interactions with residues γ364Asp, γ330Asp, γ329Gln, and γ340His found in hole a. In the same manner, the knob B peptide mimic H-Gly-His-Arg-Pro-NH₂ (GHRP-amide, H-7318) interacts with residues Bβ397Glu, Bβ398Asp, and Bβ432Asp in hole b.

Description: Proinsulin C-peptide is the sequence of C peptide as it exists within proinsulin, the precursor to insulin which consists of insulin A chain, insulin B chain and C peptide (connecting peptide). In proinsulin, C peptide provides a means to ensure correct folding and assembly of the A and B chains. It is eventually cleaved away by proteases PC2, PC1/3 and CPE, at the flanking Arg-Arg and Lys-Arg basic residues (Arg-Arg-C peptide-Lys-Arg). Although C peptide is not present in mature insulin, it is stored in secretory granules, and eventually released into the bloodstream together with insulin in nearly equimolar amounts. Whereas insulin is metabolized quickly from circulation, C-peptide exhibits a slow turnover rate (>30 minutes). The measurement of the C-peptide is an important test for the β-cell function. In the red blood cells of type 2 diabetic patients, Na+,K+, ATPase activity is strongly related to blood C-peptide levels. C-peptide signal transduction in human renal tubular cells involves the activation of phospholipase C and PKC-δ and PKC-varepsilon, as well as RhoA, followed by phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and JNK and a parallel activation of Akt. C-peptide shows specific binding to a G-protein-coupled membrane binding site, resulting in Ca2+ influx, activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase signalling pathways and stimulation of Na+, K+ ATPase and endothelial nitric oxide synthase.
