Supplier: New England Biolabs (NEB)
Description: An affinity matrix for the small-scale isolation of target proteins fused to a chitin binding domain (CBD)

Catalog Number: (75832-838)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: Calcofluor White is a fluorescent blue dye that binds to cellulose and chitin, which can be found in the cell walls of fungi, algae, and plants. In budding yeast Calcofluor White stains bud scars more strongly, because they have a higher concentration of chitin. Calcofluor White is sometimes used to identify fungal infections in medical samples.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: The protein encoded by this gene degrades chitin, which is found in the cell wall of most fungi as well as in arthropods and some nematodes. The encoded protein can also stimulate interleukin 13 expression, and variations in this gene can lead to asthma susceptibility. Several transcript variants encoding a few different isoforms have been found for this gene. (provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012).

Supplier: Spectrum Chemicals
Description: KERATIN, POWDER is the key material that makes up the human body’s out layer of skin. It is also the key element of hair and nails. It is considered to be similar to chitin. Ungraded products supplied by Spectrum are indicative of a grade suitable for general industrial use or research purposes and typically are not suitable for human consumption or therapeutic use. These materials may or may not have a Certificate of Analysis available.

Catalog Number: (CAPIPA526401)
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: CHIA degrades chitin and chitotriose. May participate in the defense against nematodes and other pathogens. There are 3 named isoforms produced by alternative splicing. CHIA is induced via a T helper-2 (Th2)-specific, interleukin-13-mediated pathway in epithelial cells and macrophages. CHIA may be an important mediator of IL13-induced responses in Th2-dominated disorders such as asthma. CHIA hydrolysis N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminide 1,4-beta-linkages in chitin and chitodextrins.

Catalog Number: (CA101444-722)
Supplier: New England Biolabs (NEB)
Description: The IMPACT (Intein Mediated Purification with an Affinity Chitin-binding Tag) system is a novel protein purification system which utilizes the inducible self-cleavage activity of protein splicing elements (termed inteins) to separate the target protein from the affinity tag.

Catalog Number: (75791-358)
Supplier: Prosci
Description: lysozyme C is a secreted protein and belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 22 family. Lysozymes have primarily a bacteriolytic function, damage bacterial cell walls by catalyzing hydrolysis of 1,4-beta-linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in a peptidoglycan and between N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in chitodextrins. Those in tissues and body fluids are associated with the monocyte-macrophage system and enhance the activity of immunoagents. Lysozyme C is capable of both hydrolysis and transglycosylation; it shows also a slight esterase activity. It acts rapidly on both peptide-substituted and unsubstituted peptidoglycan, and slowly on chitin oligosaccharides.
