Supplier: Prosci
Description: Sorbitol dehydrogenase, also known as L-iditol 2-dehydrogenase and SORD, is a member of the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family

Catalog Number: (10393-998)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Sorbitol dehydrogenase (SDH), a member of the medium-chain dehydrogenase/reductase protein family and the second enzyme of the polyol pathway of glucose metabolism, converts sorbitol to fructose strictly using NAD(+) as coenzyme. SDH is expressed almost ubiquitously in all mammalian tissues. The enzyme has attracted considerable interest due to its implication in the development of diabetic complications as the polyol pathway is particularly active in hyperglycemic states. Although SORD is closely related to the class I long-chain alcohol dehydrogenases, it differs in substrate specificity, catalyzing polyols such as sorbitol and xylitol but having no activity towards primary alcohols.

Supplier: Proteintech
Description: ADH5, also named as ADHX, FDH FALDH GSH-FDH ADH3 and GSNOR, belongs to the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family and Class-III subfamily. It is remarkably ineffective in oxidizing ethanol, but it readily catalyzes the oxidation of long-chain primary alcohols and the oxidation of S-(hydroxymethyl) glutathione. ADH5 mediates multiple cardiovascular functions. It plays in regulating heterocellular communication in the artery wall. . ADH5 immunostaining is distributed in both the nucleus and cytoplasm of the retinal ganglion cells.

Catalog Number: (76118-070)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Phosphatase enzymes catalyse hydrolysis of phosphoric acid esters of various alcohols, e.g. a hexose phosphate, to yield the alcohol and free inorganic phosphate. This may be a way of recycling phosphate in the cell, and the level of phosphate may be elevated under conditions of phosphate starvation (in algae for example). Acid phosphatases have pH optima below 7, whereas alkaline phosphatases are most active above pH 7. Commercial quantities of acid phosphatase are obtained from plant sources e.g. potato and wheat germ, whereas similar quantities of alkaline phosphatase are obtained from animal intestine and bacteria.
