Description: Leptin is a key player in the regulation of energy balance and body weight control. Once released into the circulation, it has central and peripheral effects by binding LEPR, found in many tissues, which results in the activation of several major signaling pathways. It acts as an appetite-regulating factor, regulates bone mass and secretion of hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal hormones, it increases basal metabolism, influences reproductive function, regulates pancreatic beta-cell function and insulin secretion, it induces FOS and SOCS3 expression to release anorexigenic peptides. It has a modulatory role in nutrient absorption. It reduces glucose absorption by enterocytes by activating PKC and leading to a sequential activation of p38, PI3K and ERK signaling pathways which exerts an inhibitory effect on glucose absorption. It acts as a growth factor on certain tissues, through the activation of different signaling pathways increases expression of genes involved in cell cycle regulation such as CCND1, via JAK2-STAT3 pathway, or VEGFA, via MAPK1/3 and PI3K-AKT1 pathways. It may also play an apoptotic role via JAK2-STAT3 pathway and up-regulation of BIRC5 expression. It plays a pro-inflammatory role, in synergy with IL1B, by inducing NOS2 which promotes the production of IL6, IL8 and Prostaglandin E2, through a signaling pathway that involves JAK2, PI3K, MAP2K1/MEK1 and MAPK14/p38. In adaptive immunity, promotes the switch of memory T-cells towards T helper-1 cell immune responses. Increases CD4+CD25- T cells proliferation and reduces autophagy during TCR (T cell receptor) stimulation, through MTOR signaling pathway activation and BCL2 up-regulation.

Description: Anti-Monkey IgG (H&L) HRP antibody generated in rabbit detects specifically monkey IgG heavy and light chains. Secreted as part of the adaptive immune response by plasma B cells, immunoglobulin G constitutes 75% of serum immunoglobulins. IgG binds to viruses, bacteria, as well as fungi and facilitates their destruction or neutralization via agglutination (and thereby immobilizing them), activation of the compliment cascade, and opsinization for phagocytosis. The whole IgG molecule possesses both the F(c) region, recognized by high-affinity Fc receptor proteins, as well as the F(ab) region possessing the epitope-recognition site. Both heavy and light chains of the antibody molecule are present. This peroxidase conjugated anti-Monkey IgG (H&L) secondary antibody is ideal for investigators who routinely perform western-blot, immunoprecipitation and more general immunoassays. When choosing a secondary antibody product, consideration must be given to species and immunoglobulin specificity, conjugate type, fragment and chain specificity, level of cross-reactivity, and host-species source and fragment.

Description: FGF13(Fibroblast growth factor 13), also called FHF2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FGF13 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF13is a large gene, extending over approximately 200 kb in Xq26.3, and contains at least 7 exons. By cytogenetic, FISH, and database analysis, Gecz et al. (1999) localized the FGF13 gene within a 400-kb duplication interval on chromosome Xq26.3. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth, and invasion. Other areas of interests and use for researchers include cancer, borjeson-forssman-lehmann syndrome, regulation of actin cytoskeleton pathways, apoptosis, GPCR pathways, TGF-Beta pathways, and Rho familty GTPase pathways. This gene is located to a region associated with Borjeson-Forssman-Lehmann syndrome (BFLS), a syndromal X-linked mental retardation, which suggests it may be a candidate gene for familial cases of the BFL syndrome. The function of this gene has not yet been determined. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.

Description: MEK2 antibodies detect the MEK2 isoform. Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 2, also known as MEK2 or MKK2, is an integral component of the MAP kinase cascade that regulates cell growth and differentiation. This pathway also plays a key role in synaptic plasticity in the brain. Activated MEK 2 acts as a dual specificity kinase phosphorylating both a threonine and a tyrosine residue on MAP kinase. MEK1 and MEK2 are about 80% identical to each other, and nearly identical within the kinase domain. The MEK2 antibody is ideal for investigators involved in Neuroscience, Cell Signaling and Cancer Research.
