Catalog Number: (10434-380)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: The protein encoded by this gene is a choline dehydrogenase that localizes to the mitochondrion. Variations in this gene can affect susceptibility to choline deficiency. A few transcript variants have been found for this gene, but the full-length nature of only one has been characterized to date.

Catalog Number: (CA100-101-094)
Supplier: Rockland Immunochemical
Description: This product has been assayed against 1.0 µg of Choline Oxidase (Alcaligenes species) in a standard ELISA using Peroxidase conjugated Affinity Purified anti-Goat IgG (H&L) (Rabbit) using ABTS (2,2’-azino-bis-[3-ethylbenthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid])

Catalog Number: (10082-010)
Supplier: Proteintech
Description: CHAT (choline acetyltransferase) belongs to the carnitine/choline acetyltransferase family. It catalyzes the reversible synthesis of acetylcholine (ACh) from acetyl CoA and choline at cholinergic synapses. Defects in CHAT are the cause of congenital myasthenic syndrome with episodic apnea (CMSEA). CHAT is known to to be present exclusively in the cytoplasm of cholinergic neurons and anti-CHAT antibody has been considered as the best marker for cholinergic neurons. It has been observed that CHAT gene generates multiple mRNA splice variants, including peripheral type CHAT (pCHAT) and common type CHAT (cCHAT), encoding 40-55 kDa and 66-70 kDa forms of proteins, respectively. This antibody mainly recognizes the 45-50 kDa pCHAT in multiple lysates.

Description: Lecithin from Soy, Refined, is a natural mixture of phospholipids consisting of phosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, and phosphatidyl inositol. In soybean lecithin the predominant fatty acid is polyunsaturated linoleic acid, amounting to about 70% of the fatty acids present.
Lecithin is used for preparation of vesicle suspensions commonly called liposomes or as monolayers.
A major structural phospholipid in brain, comprising approx. 15% of total lipid; primarily localized to gray matter.

Catalog Number: (10748-888)
Supplier: Prosci
Description: The glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterase domain containing 5 (GDPD5) protein, also known as GDE2, is a seven transmembrane, widely expressed protein that is necessary for spinal motor neuron differentiation and retinoid-induced neuronal outgrowth. Altered choline phospholipid metabolism is a hallmark of cancer, and the elevated expression of GDPD5 correlates with malignant choline phospholipid metabolite profiles in human breast cancer.

Description: Choline acetyltransferase is a neuronal enzyme which catalyzes the reaction between Acetyl CoA and choline resulting in the formation of acetylcholine. It is therefore found primarily in cholinergic neurons making it a valuable marker for diseases associated with decreased cholinergic function such as Schizophrenia, Alzheimer disease (AD) and Down syndrome (Holt et al. 1999). Decreased choline acetyltransferase activity in particular has been shown in Schizophrenic subjects (Karson et al 1993). It has furthermore been demonstrated that in patients with AD, there are significantly lower levels of cortical ChAT that correlate with severity of the disease as measured by loss of neuropsychological function (Baskin et al. 1999).
