Description: The EF-hand domain is a twelve amino acid loop motif that is commonly found in proteins that participate in calcium-binding events within the cell. EF-hand domains generally exist in a pair that, together, form a stable four-helix bundle that enables the binding of calcium ions. Swiprosin-2, also known as EFHD1 (EF-hand domain-containing protein D1), SWS2, PP3051 or MST133, is a 239 amino acid protein that contains two EF-hand domains and is expressed in a wide variety of tissues, including brain, liver, heart, kidney, testis, ovaries and spleen. Expression of Swiprosin-2, a possible calcium-binding protein, is upregulated during neuronal differentiation, suggesting a role for Swiprosin-2 in brain development and maturation.

Description: There are four members (MRGX1-4) in the human MRGX familly. MRGX1 and MRGX2 receptors stimulate both G Alpha q- and G Alpha i -regulated pathways, while MRGX3 and MRGX4 receptors mainly activate G Alpha q-regulated pathways. G Alpha q proteins are involved in the calcium-signaling pathway downstream of the MRGX receptors. MRGX receptors are unique in that they are expressed in a subset of small dorsal root and trigeminal sensory neurons. Probably involved in the function of nociceptive neurons. May regulate nociceptor function and/or development, including the sensation or modulation of pain. Potently activated by enkephalins including BAM22 (bovine adrenal medulla peptide 22) and BAM (8-22). BAM22 is the most potent compound and evoked a large and dose-dependent release of intracellular calcium in stably transfected cells. G(alpha)q proteins are involved in the calcium-signaling pathway.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: This magnesium-dependent enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the transport of calcium.

Catalog Number: (76082-564)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Receptor for extracellular ATP > UTP and ADP. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. May be the cardiac P2Y receptor involved in the regulation of cardiac muscle contraction through modulation of L-type calcium currents. Is a receptor for leukotriene B4, a potent chemoattractant involved in inflammation and immune response.

Catalog Number: (77664-082)
Supplier: WORLD PRECISION INSTRUMENTS LLC
Description: CALBUF-2 is especially suitable for calibrating fluorescent Ca⁺⁺ indicators. It provides eleven buffer standards in the 10⁻⁴ to 10⁻⁸ M Ca⁺⁺ range, whereas other commonly used fluorescent Ca⁺⁺ indicators have the apparent Kd in the range of 100 to 300 nM. As with any ionic sensitive indicator, the sensitivity range of these indicators is about 1.0 log unit above and below the Kd. CALBUF-2 provides seven calibration points in this sensitivity range. It has an osmolarity of 0.305, which is isotonic with most mammalian cells.

Catalog Number: (75790-610)
Supplier: Prosci
Description: Calcineurin Subunit B Type 1 belongs to the calcineurin regulatory subunit family. Calcineurin Subunit B Type 1 is a Ser/Thr-specific calcium and calmodulin-dependent protein phosphatase. It is composed of a catalytic subunit (A) and a regulatory subunit (B). It contains four EF-hand domains and four functional calcium-binding sites. Calcineurin Subunit B Type 1 plays an improtant role in the T cell activation pathway.

Description: Weakly binds calcium but binds zinc very tightly-distinct binding sites with different affinities exist for both ions on each monomer. Physiological concentrations of potassium ion antagonize the binding of both divalent cations, especially affecting high-affinity calcium-binding sites. Binds to and initiates the activation of STK38 by releasing autoinhibitory intramolecular interactions within the kinase. Interaction with AGER after myocardial infarction may play a role in myocyte apoptosis by activating ERK1/2 and p53/TP53 signaling.

Supplier: Proteintech
Description: Annexin A2 (ANXA2), also named Annexin-2 or Lipocortin II, is a Ca2+ binding protein that is up-regulated in virally transformed cell lines and human tumors. This calcium-regulated membrane-binding protein, whose affinity for calcium is greatly enhanced by anionic phospholipids, may cross-link plasma membrane phospholipids with actin and the cytoskeleton and be involved with exocytosis. Heat-stress response may also involve Annexin-2.

Catalog Number: (CAPIPA525922)
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: Calreticulin is the major calcium binding protein found in smooth muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and non-muscle endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membranes. This protein was originally identified in SR membranes and plays a minor role in calcium storage in skeletal and cardiac muscle SR. Calreticulin is also known as calregulin, CRP55, CaBP3, calsequestrin-like protein and Ro/SS-A antigen. Calreticulin binds calcium with low affinity and high capacity, however it also exhibits a single high affinity binding site. The highly conserved sequence Lys-Asp-Glu-Leu (KDEL) is present at the C-terminus of calreticulin and other resident ER proteins including glucose regulated protein 78 (GRP78), GRP94 and protein disulfide isomerase (PDI). This sequence is responsible for the retention of newly synthesized proteins within the ER lumen. This retention is reported to be mediated by a KDEL receptor. Recent reports indicate that calreticulin can act as a modulator of the regulation of gene transcription by nuclear hormone receptors and may also act as a molecular chaperone.

Supplier: Genetex
Description: This gene is a member of the visinin/recoverin subfamily of neuronal calcium sensor proteins. The encoded protein is strongly expressed in granule cells of the cerebellum where it associates with membranes in a calcium-dependent manner and modulates intracellular signaling pathways of the central nervous system by directly or indirectly regulating the activity of adenylyl cyclase. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their full-length nature has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq]

Catalog Number: (89357-972)
Supplier: Genetex
Description: This gene encodes a member of the annexin family, a group of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins. Annexins have unique N-terminal domains and conserved C-terminal domains, which contain the calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding sites. The encoded protein is a 56-kD antigen recognized by sera from patients with various autoimmune diseases. Transcript variants encoding the same isoform have been identified. [provided by RefSeq]
