Description: GDF-11 is a myostatin-homologous protein that acts as an inhibitor of nerve tissue growth. GDF-11 has been shown to suppress neurogenesis through a myostatin-like pathway, which involves the arrest of the progenitor cell cycle in the G1 phase. Similarities between myostatin and GDF-11, which are 90% identical in their amino acid sequence, suggest that the regulatory mechanisms responsible for maintaining proper tissue size during neural and muscular development might be the same. Recombinant Human/Murine/Rat GDF-11 is a 25.0 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer containing two 109 amino acid polypeptide chains. It is highly homologous to myostatin/GDF-8, sharing 90% amino acid sequence identity.

Description: AMPK is a heterotrimeric complex comprising a catalytic a subunit and regulatory b and g subunits. It protects cells from stresses that cause ATP depletion by switching off ATP-consuming biosynthetic pathways. AMPK is activated by high AMP and low ATP through a mechanism involving allosteric regulation, promotion of phosphorylation by an upstream protein kinase known as AMPK kinase and inhibition of dephosphorylation. Activated AMPK can phosphorylate and regulate in vivo hydroxy-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase and acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which are key regulatory enzymes of sterol synthesis and fatty acid synthesis, respectively. The human AMPKa1 and AMPKa2 genes encode 548 amino acid and 552 amino acid proteins, respectively. Human AMPKb1 encodes a 271 amino acid protein and human AMPKb2 encodes a 272 amino acid protein. The human AMPKg1 gene encodes a 331 amino acid protein. Human AMPKg2 and AMPKg3, which are 569 and 492 amino acid proteins, respectively, contain unique N-terminal domains and may participate directly in the binding of AMP within the AMPK complex.

Description: LAG-1 is CC chemokine that signals through the CCR5 receptor. LAG-1 is identical to MIP-1β (ACT II isotype) except for two amino acid substitutions; arginine for histidine at position 22 and serine for glycine at position 47 of the mature protein. LAG-1 chemoattracts monocytes, and exhibits activity as an HIV-suppressive factor. Recombinant Human LAG-1 (CCL4L1) is a 7.7 kDa protein containing 69 amino acid residues.

Description: HKR1 is one of the GLI-Kruppel family of human genes. Members of this family have similar H-C links, i.e., a conserved stretch of 9 amino acids connecting the C-terminal histidine of one finger to the N-terminal cysteine of the next. On the basis of amino acid sequence and intron-exon organization, the genes could be placed into one of two subgroups: the GLI subgroup (with the consensus finger amino acid sequence [Y/F]XCX3GCX3[F/Y]X5LX2HX3-4H[T/S]GEKP) or the Kr subgroup (with the consensus finger amino acid sequence [Y/F]XCX2CX3FX5LX2HXRXHTGEKP).

Description: CXCL16 is a member of the CXC chemokine family and signals through the CXCR6 receptor. CXCL16 may play a role in attracting lymphocyte subsets during inflammation and may facilitate certain immune responses. The chemokine domain of CXCL16 contains six cysteine residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues characteristic of CXC chemokines. The CXCL16 gene codes for a 273 amino acid polypeptide, which includes a 29 amino acid cytoplasmic domain and transmembrane sequence containing approximately 20 amino acids. The extracellular portion of CXCL16 contains a chemokines domain and an extended C-terminal ?mucin-like stalk? sequence. The extracellular domain contains 89 amino acid residues (86 a.a. residues for the murine homolog). Recombinant murine CXCL16 is a 9.9 kDa protein containing 88 amino acid residues.

Description: Nectin-3 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the nectin family. Its precursor is 549 amino acids in length and contains an extended signal sequence of 57 amino acids, an extracellular domain (ECD) of 347 amino acids, a transmembrane segment of 21 amino acids, and a cytoplasmic region of 124 amino acids. It is predominantly expressed in testis and placenta as well as in various cell lines, including epithelial cell lines. Nectin-3 plays a role in cell-cell adhesion through heterophilic trans-interactions with nectin-like proteins or nectins, such as trans-interaction with PVRL2/Nectin-2 at Sertoli-spermatid junctions. Nectin-3 is also involved in the formation of cell-cell junctions, including adherens junctions and synapses.

Description: BMPs (Bone Morphogenetic Proteins) belong to the TGF-β superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins. BMP-2 is a potent osteoinductive cytokine, capable of inducing bone and cartilage formation in association with osteoconductive carriers such as collagen and synthetic hydroxyapatite. In addition to its osteogenic activity, BMP-2 plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis, and is expressed in a variety of tissues, including lung, spleen, brain, liver, prostate ovary and small intestine. The functional form of BMP-2 is a 26 kDa protein composed of two identical 114 amino acid polypeptide chains linked by a single disulfide bond. Each BMP-2 monomer is expressed as the C-terminal part of a precursor polypeptide, which also contains a 23 amino acid signal sequence for secretion, and a 259 amino acid propeptide. After dimerization of this precursor, the covalent bonds between the propeptide (which is also a disulfide-linked homodimer) and the mature BMP-2 ligand are cleaved by a furin-type protease. Recombinant Human BMP-2 is a 26.0 kDa homodimeric protein consisting of two 115 amino acid polypeptide chains. Manufactured using all Animal-Free reagents.

Description: CD30 ligand (CD30L) is a type-II membrane-associated glycoprotein protein belonging to the TNF superfamily and is expressed primarily on certain B cells, T cells, and monocytes. CD30L binds specifically to CD30 (receptor), which is expressed on activated, but not resting, B and T cells, in lymphomas and various chronically inflamed tissues. CD30L/CD30 interactions initiate a signaling cascade that can ultimately lead to the activation of NF-KappaB. CD30L/CD30 signaling exerts pleiotropic effects on normal cells, including cell death, differentiation, or cell division. Certain diseases, including Hodgkins’s lymphoma, allergic inflammation, diabetes (in NOD mice), and mycobacterial infection can also be affected by CD30L/CD30 signaling. The CD30L gene encodes for a 234 amino acid type II transmembrane protein, which contains a 37 amino acid cytoplasmic sequence, a 25 amino acid transmembrane domain and a 172 amino acid extracellular domain. Recombinant human soluble CD30L (sCD30L) is a 188 amino acid polypeptide corresponding to the extracellular domain, and contains an 8 residue N-terminal His -Tag.
