Catalog Number: (CAPIPA5-18133)
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, canine, mouse and rat based on sequence homology. The 26S proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with a highly ordered structure composed of 2 complexes, a 20S core and a 19S regulator. The 20S core is composed of 4 rings of 28 non-identical subunits; 2 rings are composed of 7 alpha subunits and 2 rings are composed of 7 beta subunits. The 19S regulator is composed of a base, which contains 6 ATPase subunits and 2 non-ATPase subunits, and a lid, which contains up to 10 non-ATPase subunits. Proteasomes are distributed throughout eukaryotic cells at a high concentration and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent process in a non-lysosomal pathway. An essential function of a modified proteasome, the immunoproteasome, is the processing of class I MHC peptides. This gene encodes a protein that inhibits the activation of the proteasome by the 11S and 19S regulators. Alternative transcript variants have been identified for this gene.

Description: This antibody is predicted to react with human and rat based on sequence homology. This gene encodes a member of the gap junction protein family. The gap junctions were first characterized by electron microscopy as regionally specialized structures on plasma membranes of contacting adherent cells. These structures were shown to consist of cell-to-cell channels that facilitate the transfer of ions and small molecules between cells. The gap junction proteins, also known as connexins, purified from fractions of enriched gap junctions from different tissues differ. According to sequence similarities at the nucleotide and amino acid levels, the gap junction proteins are divided into two categories, alpha and beta. Mutations in this gene are responsible for as much as 50% of pre-lingual, recessive deafness.

Description: Myelin/oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG), a 26-to 28-kDa glycoprotein, a myelin antigen at the outer surface of the central nervous system (CNS) myelin sheath, which may trigger T-cell as well as B-cell responses. It therefore constitutes a pivotal target for autoimmune responses, which result in inflammation and also demyelination in the CNS. Its presence on the outer- most lamellae of mature CNS myelin and its late appearance during myelinogenesis suggest that it contributes to myelin maturation or maintenance. 10 isoforms of MOG produced by alternative splicing have been described, and heterodimers may be formed between the different isoforms. Defects in MOG are the cause of narcolepsy type 7 (NRCLP7), a neurological disabling sleep disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, sleep fragmentation, symptoms of abnormal rapid-eye-movement (REM) sleep, cataplexy, hypnagogic hallucinations, and sleep paralysis. Role of MOG in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS) has been reported but remains to be clarified.

Description: RAD23A, also named as HHR23A, belongs to the RAD23 family. It is a multiubiquitin chain receptor involved in modulation of proteasomal degradation. RAD23A binds to 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains in a length-dependent manner and with a lower affinity to 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitin chains. It is proposed to be capable to bind simultaneously to the 26S proteasome and to polyubiquitinated substrates and to deliver ubiquitinated proteins to the proteasome. It is involved in nucleotide excision repair and is thought to be functional equivalent for RAD23B in global genome nucleotide excision repair (GG-NER) by association with XPC. In vitro, the XPC:RAD23A dimer has NER activity. Can stabilize XPC. It is also involved in vpr-dependent replication of HIV-1 in non-proliferating cells and primary macrophages and is required for the association of HIV-1 vpr with the host proteasome. This antibody is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against full length RAD23A of human origin.

Description: Ubiquitin is most famous for its function in targeting proteins for degradation by the 26S proteasome, ubiquitin needs to be attached to a substrate in chains (polyubiquitylation) before being recognized by proteasome. Similarly, SUMO (small ubiquitin-related modifier) can be linked to substrates in chains (polysumoylation), SUMO modification has been implicated in many important cellular processes including the control of genome stability, signal transduction, targeting to and formation of nuclear compartments, cell cycle and meiosis. There are 4 confirmed SUMO isoforms in human, SUMO-1, SUMO-2, SUMO-3 and SUMO-4. SUMO-2 and SUMO-3 are nearly identical but are distinct from SUMO-1. SUMO2/3 conjugation was recently widely involved in neuroprotective activities. A substitution (M55V) of SUMO4 was strongly associated with the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes (T1D) involving NF kappa B related mechanisms. This antibody can detect endogenous levels of SUMOylated proteins (e.g. SUMO-1-RanGAP at 80-90 kD).
