Description: CD27 Ligand, a type II transmembrane protein, is a member of the TNF superfamily. It is expressed on activated T and B lymphocytes, as well as NK cells. CD27L and its receptor (CD27) regulate the immune response by promoting T-cell expansion and differentiation, as well as NK enhancement. CD27 signaling can act as a co-stimulatory effector to sustain the survival of CD8+ T cells, primarily by inducing increased expression of the IL-2 gene. Full length human CD27L is a 193 amino acid protein, consisting of a 17 amino acid cytoplasmic domain, a 21 amino acid transmembrane domain, and a 155 amino acid extracellular domain. Human soluble CD27L corresponds to the 155 amino acid extracellular domain of the full length CD27L protein. PeproTech’s Recombinant Human sCD27 Ligand contains the extracellular domain plus an N-terminal His-Tag. The calculated molecular weight of Recombinant Human sCD27 Ligand is 18.8 kDa.

The MCP proteins chemoattract and activate monocytes, activated T cells, basophils, NK cells, and immature dendritic cells. The MCP family cross-reacts across species. Recombinant Human MCP-3 (CCL7) is a 9.0 kDa protein containing 76 amino acid residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in the CC chemokines.

Description: LIF is a pleiotrophic factor produced by multiple cell types, including T cells, myelomonocytic lineages, fibroblasts, liver, heart and melanoma. LIF promotes long-term maintenance of embryonic stem cells by suppressing spontaneous differentiation. Other activities include the stimulation of acute phase protein synthesis by hepatocytes, stimulation of differentiation of cholinergic nerves, and suppression of adipogenesis by inhibiting the lipoprotein lipase in adipocytes. While human LIF is active on mouse cells and is widely used in the maintenance of murine ESC to prevent spontaneous differentiation, mouse LIF is not active on human cells due to its inability to bind to the human LIF receptor. Recombinant Human LIF is a 19.6 kDa protein containing 180 amino acids residues, including three disulfide bonds.

CNTF is also important for the survival of other neural cell types, including primary sensory neurons, motor neurons, basal forebrain neurons and type 2 astrocytes. CNTF is highly conserved across species and exhibits cross-species bioactivity. Recombinant Human CNTF is synthesized as a 199 amino acid polypeptide (22.8 kDa) lacking a hydrophobic N-terminal signal for secretion.

Description: Oncostatin M (OSM) is a growth and differentiation factor that participates in the regulation of neurogenesis, osteogenesis and hematopoiesis. Produced by activated T cells, monocytes and Kaposi’s sarcoma cells, OSM can exert both stimulatory and inhibitory effects on cell proliferation. It stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells and Kaposi’s sarcoma cells, but inhibits the growth of some normal and tumor cell lines. It also promotes cytokine release (e.g. IL-6, GM-CSF and G-CSF) from endothelial cells, and enhances the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptors in hepatoma cells. OSM shares several structural and functional characteristics with LIF, IL-6, and CNTF. Recombinant Rat Oncostatin M is a 24.4 kDa protein, containing 215 amino acid residues.

Description: MIG, a CXC chemokine, is produced by IFN-γ stimulated monocytes, macrophages and endothelial cells. It signals through the CXCR3 receptor. MIG selectively chemoattracts Th1 lymphocytes, and also exerts other activities, including inhibition of tumor growth, angiogenesis, and inhibition of colony formation of hematopoietic progenitors. Human MIG is active on murine cells. Recombinant Human MIG (CXCL9) is an 11.7 kDa protein containing 103 amino acid residues, including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in CXC chemokines.

Description: Activin A is a TGF-β family member that exhibits a wide range of biological activities, including regulation of cellular proliferation and differentiation, and promotion of neuronal survival. Elevated levels of Activin A in human colorectal tumors and in postmenopausal women have been implicated in colorectal and breast cancers, respectively. The biological activities of Activin A can be neutralized by inhibins and by the diffusible TGF-β antagonist, follistatin. Activin A binds to the two forms of activin receptor type I (Act RI-A and Act RI-B) and two forms of activin receptor type II (Act RII-A and Act RII-B). Activins are homodimers or heterodimers of different β subunits. They are produced as precursor proteins with an amino terminal propeptide that is cleaved to release the C-terminal bioactive ligand. Recombinant Human/Murine/Rat Activin A is a 26.0 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer of two βA chains, each containing 116 amino acid residues.

OSM shares several structural and functional characteristics with LIF, IL-6, and CNTF. Human OSM is active on murine cells. The human OSM gene encodes for a 252 amino acid polypeptide, containing 25 amino acid signal sequence for secretion and a 227 precursor protein. Proteolytic processing of this precursor removes an 18 amino acid C-terminal peptide, and generates the mature OSM form. Recombinant Human Oncostatin M is a 23.6 kDa protein, containing 209 amino acid residues.

Like Adiponectin, gAcrp30 is capable of decreasing hyperglycemia and reversing insulin resistance. Additionally, gAcrp30 has been shown to be an important factor in promoting fat loss by signaling muscle to absorb and burn Free-Fatty Acids (FFAs). The signaling receptors for adiponectin and gAcrp30 have recently been identified and named AdipoR1 and AdipoR2. AdipoR2 is predominantly expressed in the liver.
