Description: ZNF346 Antibody: ZNF346, also known as JAZ (just another zinc-finger protein), is a nucleolar, zinc finger protein which preferentially binds to double-stranded (ds) RNA or RNA/DNA hybrids with high affinity via C2H2 zinc fingers. ZNF346 contains four CH-type zinc finger motifs that are connected by long (28-38) amino acid linker sequences. ZNF346 is expressed in all tissues tested and localizes to the nucleus, primarily the nucleolus. ZNF346 is exported by exportin-5 but translocates back into nuclei by a facilitated diffusion mechanism. ZNF346 interacts with ILF3 in an RNA-independent manner and may be involved in cell growth and survival.

Description: ZIP12 Antibody: The zinc transporter ZIP12, also known as SLC39A12, is a member of a family of divalent ion transporters. Zinc is an essential ion for cells and plays significant roles in the growth, development, and differentiation. The zinc transporter family is divided into four subfamilies (I, II, LIV-1 and gufA). ZIP12 is a multipass membrane protein that belongs to the ZIP transporter subfamily LIV-1. Increased levels of ZIP12 have been observed during acute inflammation in the airway and asthma, suggesting that it may be promote increased zinc uptake, as this can reduce inflammation. The zinc content in brains in individuals with schizophrenia is lower than in individuals with other cerebral diseases, and mutations in ZIP12 have been observed in a small group of schizophrenic patients, suggesting that ZIP12 may play a role in this disease.

Description: The tripartite motif (TRIM) family of proteins are characterized by a conserved TRIM domain that includes a coiled-coil region, a B-box type zinc finger, one RING finger and three zinc-binding domains. TRIM7 (tripartite motif-containing 7), also known as RNF90 or GNIP, is a 511 amino acid protein that belongs to the TRIM family and contains one RING-type zinc finger, one B box-type zinc finger and one SPRY domain. Expressed in placenta and skeletal muscle and present at lower levels in brain, heart and pancreas, TRIM7 localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus where it exists as dimers and is thought to participate in the initiation of glycogen synthesis. Multiple isoforms of TRIM7 exist due to alternative splicing events.

Description: ZIP7 Antibody: The zinc transporter ZIP7, also known as SLC39A7, is a member of a family of divalent ion transporters. Zinc is an essential ion for cells and plays significant roles in the growth, development, and differentiation. ZIP7 was initially identified while characterizing genes in the major histocompatibility complex on chromosome 17. ZIP7 mRNA is abundantly and widely expressed and the protein localizes to the Golgi apparatus. It functions to transport intracellular zinc from the Golgi apparatus to the cytoplasm of the cell. ZIP7 expression is expressed by zinc. ZIP7 has been suggested to act a hub for tyrosine kinase activation and may thus be a potential therapeutic target for diseases such as cancer where prevention of tyrosine kinase activation would be advantageous.

Description: NANOS1 is a protein that belongs to the nanos family. The C terminus contains a conserved RNA-binding domain that consists of two zinc fingers. Nanos-type zinc finger is composed of two C2HC motifs, each motif binds one molecule of zinc. It is essential for the translation repression activity of the protein. The zinc finger region of NANOS1 shares 62% identity with the zinc finger region of Drosophila Nanos. It is required for the development of germ stem cells in both the sexes. It may regulate translation of specific mRNAs by forming a complex with PUM2. A region of PUM2 that include the RNA-binding domain and 155 upstream amino acids interacted with the zinc finger domain of NANOS1. NANOS1 is expressed during meiosis in spermatocytes but is absent in late post meiotic-stage germ cells. Northern blot analysis shows its almost exclusive expression on testis. It is also expressed in fetal testis and fetal ovary. It is essential for both establishing and maintaining germline stem cells by preventing their precocious entry into oogenesis. Removing NANOS from germline stem cells or their precursors, the primordial germ cells, causes both cell types to differentiate into germline cysts.

Description: Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. ZSWIM3 (Zinc finger SWIM domain-containing protein 3) is a 696 amino acid protein that contains one SWIM-type zinc finger. SWIM domains are found in a variety of eukaryotic and prokaryotic proteins and are thought to be critical for certain ubiquitination reactions. The gene encoding ZSWIM3 maps to human chromosome 20, which contains nearly 63 million bases that encode over 600 genes, some of which are associated with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, ring chromosome 20 epilepsy syndrome and Alagille syndrome.
