Description: This MAb specifically precipitates heterogeneous material of high MW, identified as perlecan, a major heparan-sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) within all basement membranes and cell surfaces. It does not cross-react with laminin, fibronectin, or dermatran sulfate proteoglycan. Because of perlecan s strategic location and ability to store and protect growth factors, it has been strongly implicated in the control of tumor cell growth and metastatic behavior. Perlecan possesses angiogenic and growth-promoting attributes primarily by acting as a co-receptor for basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2). Suppression of perlecan causes substantial inhibition of neoplastic growth and neovascularization. Thus, perlecan is a potent inducer of neoplasm growth and angiogenesis in vivo and therapeutic interventions targeting this key modulator of tumor progression may improve neoplastic treatment.

Description: Protein C Inhibitor (PCI), a member of the serine protease inhibitor (serpin) superfamily, is abundant in plasma and other body fluids. Protein C Inhibitor inhibits a number of "arginine specific" serine proteases of the coagulation and fibrinolytic systems (including thrombin, trypsin, and activated Protein C), as well as plasma and tissue kallikreins and the sperm protease acrosin. This inhibition is regulated by glycosaminoglycans, such as heparin and heparan sulphate, and several polyanions. As well as its roles in the regulation of hemostasis and fertilisation, Protein C Inhibitor is involved in cell inflammation, proliferation, apoptosis, tumour cell migration, invasion, and metastasis. Recent studies have demonstrated an association between Protein C Inhibitor and multiple sclerosis lesions.

Description: Glypicans (GPCs) are a family of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored heparan sulphate proteoglycans (HSPGs) that may play a role in the control of cell division and growth regulation. In mammals, there are six GPCs (GPC1 to GPC6), all of which have a similar core-protein size of approx. 60 kDa and the clustering of glycosaminoglycan attachment site near the C-terminus. They are tethered to the cell surface by GPI linkages, which can be cleaved by endogenous phospholipases, thus releasing the protein. Human GPC4 is a 556-amino acid protein, and shows 93.5% identity to mouse K-glypican. The gene of GPC4 has been mapped to Xq26, and its mRNA is widely expressed in human tissues, including lung, kidney, heart, placenta, skeletal muscle, and pancreas. GPC4 has also been shown to be present in astrocytes, haematopoietic-progenitor and bone-marrow-stromal cells. Studies suggest that GPC4 is involved in the regulation of Wnt signaling and astrocyte GPC4 plays a role in formation of excitatory synapses. This antobody can recognize both full length (65 kDa) and cleaved (35 kDa) GPC4 as well as GPC6.
