Catalog Number: (89165-946)
Supplier: Enzo Life Sciences
Description: Calcium dye

Supplier: Biotium
Description: Indo-1, AM ester is membrane-permeant and thus can be loaded into cells via incubation. Because of the relatively low water solubility of the AM ester, Pluronic F-127, a mild detergent, is often used as a dispersing agent to facilitate cell loading. Indo-1-AM Ester itself does not bind Ca2+ , but it is readily hydrolyzed to indo-1 by endogenous esterases once it enters cells.

Catalog Number: (89139-280)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: Pluronic® F-127 is a nonionic detergent useful for solubilizing hydrophobic dye molecules such as cell-permeable AM esters of Fura-2, Fluo-3, Indo-1, or Rhod-2 calcium indicators to facilitate cell loading. Pluronic® F-127 is usually dissolved in water or DMSO with gentle heating.

Catalog Number: (89139-288)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: Ready-to-use solution of Pluronic® F-127, a nonionic detergent useful for solubilizing hydrophobic dye molecules such as cell-permeable AM esters of Fura-2, Fluo-3, Indo-1, or Rhod-2 calcium indicators to facilitate cell loading.

Catalog Number: (89139-292)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: Similar to A-23187, 4-Bromo A-23187 is used for in situ calibrations of fluorescent Ca2 indicators to equilibrate intracellular and extracellular calcium concentrations and to allow Mn2 to enter cells to quench indicator fluorescence. However, since 4-bromo A-23187 is nonfluorescent, it is preferred over the blue fluorescent A-23187 for calibrations of UV-excited Ca2 indicators such as Indo-1 and Fura-2 in order to keep background fluorescence to a minimum.

Catalog Number: (H-6334.0500BA)
Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: Small synthetic molecules called growth-hormone secretagogues (GHSs) stimulate the release of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary through a G protein-coupled receptor (GHS-R). Recently, ghrelin ("ghre" is the Proto-Indo-European root of the word "grow") has been identified as an endogenous ligand for GHS-R. These peptides consist of 28 amino acids with an octanoyl-residue at Ser³, which is essential for expressing activity. Ghrelin stimulates GH release from rat primary culture pituitary cells in a dose-dependent manner and induces an increase in intracellular Ca²⁺ in GHS-R-expressing cells with an EC₅₀ value of 2.5 nM. Human ghrelin is homologous to rat ghrelin apart from two amino acids. The occurrence of ghrelin in both rat and human indicates that GH release from the pituitary may be regulated not only by hypothalamic GHRH, but also by ghrelin. In future, ghrelin might be used in the treatment of aging patients as well as in patients with idiopathic GH deficiency, obesity, osteoporosis or cardiovascular diseases.
