Description: NET-4, also known as TSPAN5 or TM4SF9, is a 268 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that belongs to the tetraspanin family and is thought to play a role in signal transduction events related to cell development, activation, growth and motility. The gene encoding NET-4 maps to human chromosome 4, which encodes nearly 6% of the human genome and has the largest gene deserts (regions of the genome with no protein encoding genes) of all of the human chromosomes. Defects in some of the genes located on chromosome 4 are associated with Huntington's disease, Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, methylmalonic acidemia and polycystic kidney disease.

Description: BEND4 is a 530 amino acid protein that contains a BEN domain. BEND4 exists as five alternatively spiced isoforms and is considered a complete proteome. BEN domain mediates protein–DNA and protein–protein interactions during chromatin organization and transcription. BEN domain may play a role in organization of viral DNA during replication or transcription. The BEND4 gene maps to human chromosome 4p13. Representing approximately 6% of the human genome, chromosome 4 contains nearly 900 genes. Chromosome 4 reportedly contains the largest gene deserts (regions of the genome with no protein encoding genes) and has one of the two lowest recombination frequencies of the human chromosomes. Notably, the Huntingtin gene, which is found to encode an expanded glutamine tract in cases of Huntington's disease, is on chromosome 4. FGFR-3 is also encoded on chromosome 4 and has been associated with thanatophoric dwarfism, achondroplasia, Muenke syndrome and bladder cancer.

Description: Members of the Hedgehog (Hh) family are highly conserved proteins that are widely represented throughout the animal kingdom. The three known mammalian Hh proteins, Sonic (Shh), Desert (Dhh) and Indian (Ihh), are structurally related, and share a high degree of amino acid sequence identity (e.g. Shh and Ihh are 93% identical). The biologically active form of each Hh molecule is obtained by autocatalytic cleavage of their precursor proteins, and each corresponds to approximately one half of the N-terminal portion of the precursor molecule. Although Hh proteins have unique expression patterns and distinct biological roles within their respective regions of secretion, they use the same signaling pathway and can be substituted for one another in experimental systems. Recombinant Murine Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) is a 20.0 kDa protein consisting of 176 amino acid residues, including an N-terminal Ile-Val-Ile sequence substituted for the naturally occurring, chemically modified Cys residue.

Description: Polycomb group (PcG) proteins form multiprotein complexes that regulate expression patterns of developmental and cell proliferation genes. Several members of the PcG contain ring finger domains and are identified as a subclass of RING finger proteins. The RING-type zinc finger motif is present in a number of viral and eukaryotic proteins and is made of a conserved cysteine-rich domain that is able to bind two zinc atoms. Proteins that contain the RING-type zinc finger conserved domain are generally involved in the ubiquitination pathway of protein degradation. PCGF3 (polycomb group ring finger 3), also known as RNF3, DONG1 or RNF3A, is a 242 amino acid transcriptional regulator that is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 4, which encodes nearly 6% of the human genome and has the largest gene deserts (regions of the genome with no protein encoding genes) of all of the human chromosomes. PCGF3 exists as two isoforms produced by alternative splicing events.

Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, canine and porcine based on sequence homology. This gene encodes a member of the patched gene family. The encoded protein is the receptor for sonic hedgehog, a secreted molecule implicated in the formation of embryonic structures and in tumorigenesis, as well as the desert hedgehog and indian hedgehog proteins. This gene functions as a tumor suppressor. Mutations of this gene have been associated with basal cell nevus syndrome, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, trichoepitheliomas, transitional cell carcinomas of the bladder, as well as holoprosencephaly. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Additional splice variants have been described, but their full length sequences and biological validity cannot be determined currently.

Description: ince the molecular cloning of GFP cDNA and demonstration of GFP as a functional transgene, GFP has become a powerful tool with exciting applications in developmental, cell and molecular biology. RFP is the recent discovered protein that has the similar function and applications as GFP. Either GFP or RFP fluorescence is not species specific and can be expressed in bacteria, yeast, plant and mammalian cells. GFP or RFP can fuse with proteins of interest without interfering significantly with their assembly and function.
