Description: The protein encoded by ANXA5 belongs to the annexin family of calcium-dependent phospholipid binding proteins some of which have been implicated in membrane-related events along exocytotic and endocytotic pathways. Annexin 5 is a phospholipase A2 and protein kinase C inhibitory protein with calcium channel activity and a potential role in cellular signal transduction, inflammation, growth and differentiation. Annexin 5 has also been described as placental anticoagulant protein I, vascular anticoagulant-alpha, endonexin II, lipocortin V, placental protein 4 and anchorin CII.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: Rad and Gem related GTP binding protein (REM) is a member of the RGK subfamily of Ras-like GTPases that also includes Rad, REM2 and Gem/Kir. REM is a phosphorylated protein that is highly expressed in cardiac muscle and moderately expressed in lung, kidney and skeletal muscle. REM associates with several 14-3-3 isoforms as well as with calmodulin in a calcium-dependent manner. REM mediates two distinct signal transduction pathways that regulate both cytoskeletal reorganization and voltage-gated calcium channel activity. REM decreases the current that passes through cardiac voltage-gated L-type Ca channels (Ca(V)). Overexpression of REM may result in the development of cytoplasmic processes, reorganization of the Actin cytoskeleton, reduction in focal adhesion size and an elongated or dendritic-like cell morphology.

Description: The ryanodine receptor (RyR) is the channel responsible for the release of calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) in muscle cells and also plays a role in calcium regulation in non-muscle cells. The RyR exists as a homotetramer and is predicted to have a short cytoplasmic C-terminus and 4-10 transmembrane domains; the remainder of the protein, termed the "foot" region is located in the cytoplasm between the T-tubule and the SR. The mammalian RyR is the product of three different genes: RyR-1, which is expressed predominantly in skeletal muscle and areas of the brain, RyR-2, which is expressed predominantly in the heart muscle but also found in the stomach, endothelial cells and diffuse areas of the brain, and RyR-3 which is found in smooth muscle and the brain (striatum, thalamus and hippocampus).

Description: The somatostatin antagonist BIM 23627 selectively bound with high affinity to the human somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (hsst2), but was completely inactive in stimulating intracellular calcium mobilization. The IC₅₀ values of BIM 23627 to the five human somatostatin receptor subtypes were 2757 nM (hsst1), 6.4 nM (hsst2), 44 nM (hsst3), 423 nM (hsst4), and 86.5 nM (hsst5).

Description: Calcium ions play a primary role in the regulation of sperm motility. Anti-CATSPER2 belongs to a family of putative cation channels that are specific to spermatozoa and localize to the flagellum. The protein family features a single repeat with six membrane-spanning segments and a predicted calcium-selective pore region. A second, closely linked copy of this gene has been identified. Although multiple transcript variants encoding protein isoforms have been characterized, they seem to be only transcribed from this gene. Additional splice variants have been described but their full-length nature has not been determined.

Catalog Number: (10071-880)
Supplier: Prosci
Description: Involved in calcium induced regulation of ion channel and activation of the map kinase signaling pathway. May represent an important signaling intermediate between neuropeptide activated receptors or neurotransmitters that increase calcium flux and the downstream signals that regulate neuronal activity. Interacts with the SH2 domain of Grb2. May phosphorylate the voltage-gated potassium channel protein Kv1.2. Its activation is highly correlated with the stimulation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase activity. Involved in osmotic stress-dependent SNCA 'Tyr-125' phosphorylation.

Description: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the S100family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs.S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of awide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number ofcellular processes such as cell cycle progression anddifferentiation. S100 genes include at least 13 members which arelocated as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. This protein may have atumor suppressor function. Chromosomal rearrangements and alteredexpression of this gene have been implicated in breast cancer.

Description: In plant cells, the vacuole functions as a major calcium store. Although a calmodulin-regulated Ca2+-ATPase (ACA4) is known to be present in prevacuolar compartments, the presence of an ACA-type Ca2+-ATPase in the mature vacuole of a plant cell has not been verified. Here we provide evidence that ACA11 localizes to the vacuole membrane. ACA11 tagged with GFP was expressed in stable transgenic plants, and visualized in root cells and protoplasts by confocal microscopy. A Ca2+-ATPase function for ACA11 was confirmed by complementation of yeast mutants.
