Catalog Number: (77436-880)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Catalyzes the irreversible transamination of the L-tryptophan metabolite L-kynurenine to form kynurenic acid (KA). Metabolizes the cysteine conjugates of certain halogenated alkenes and alkanes to form reactive metabolites. Catalyzes the beta-elimination of S-conjugates and Se-conjugates of L-(seleno)cysteine, resulting in the cleavage of the C-S or C-Se bond.

Catalog Number: (10075-394)
Supplier: Prosci
Description: Tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) catalyzes the 5-hydroxylation of tryptophan, which is the first step in the biosynthesis of indoleamines (serotonin and melatonin). In mammals, serotonin biosynthesis occurs predominantly in neurons which originate in the raphe nuclei of the brain, and melatonin synthesis takes place within the pineal gland. Although TPH catalyzes the same reaction within the raphe nuclei and the pineal gland, TPH activity is rate-limiting for serotonin but not melatonin biosynthesis. Serotonin functions mainly as a neurotransmitter, whereas melatonin is the principal hormone secreted by the pineal gland. The activity of TPH is enhanced by phosphorylation by cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) and Ca2+/calmodulin kinase II (CAM K II). Both PKA and CAM K II phosphorylate Ser58 which lies within the regulatory domain of TPH.

Catalog Number: (10478-270)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: WDR79 contains six WD (tryptophan-aspartate) repeat domains found in a number of proteins that function as adaptor molecules in signal transduction and cytoskeletal organization. The WD repeat is defined by four or more repeating units of a conserved core of approximately 40 amino acids ending with tryptophan-aspartic acid (WD). WD repeats may serve as sites of protein-protein interaction for adaptor proteins and facilitate multiprotein complex formation. The function of the WDR79 protein has not been characterized, however significant and consistent single nucleotide polymorphisms in the WDR79 gene have been found to be associated with ER negative breast cancer.

Description: Tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) catalyzes the 5-hydroxylation of tryptophan, which is the first step in the biosynthesis of indoleamines (serotonin and melatonin) (Martinez et al., 2001). The activity of TPH is enhanced by phosphorylation by cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) and Ca2+/calmodulin kinase II (CaM K II) (Jiang et al., 2000; Johansen et al., 1996). CaM K II phosphorylates Ser19 which lies within the regulatory domain of TPH2 (McKinney et

Supplier: Bioss
Description: GTP cyclohydrolase I (also designated dopa-responsive dystonia) catalyzes the conversion of GTP to D-erythro-7,8-dihydroneopterin triphosphate, the first and rate-limiting step in tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) biosynthesis. Tetrahydrobiopterin is an essential cofactor for 3 aromatic amino acid monooxygenases: phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan hydroxylases. Animals can synthesize tetrahydrobiopterin in vivo from GTP through several enzymatic reactions.

Description: This gene encodes a member of the aromatic amino acid hydroxylase family. The encoded protein catalyzes the first and rate limiting step in the biosynthesis of serotonin, an important hormone and neurotransmitter. Mutations in this gene have been associated with an elevated risk for a variety of diseases and disorders, including schizophrenia, somatic anxiety, anger-related traits, bipolar disorder, suicidal behavior, addictions, and others. Description: Kynureninase is a pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (pyridoxal-P) dependent enzyme that catalyzes the cleavage of L-kynurenine and L-3-hydroxykynurenine into anthranilic and 3-hydroxyanthranilic acids, respectively. Kynureninase is involved in the biosynthesis of NAD cofactors from tryptophan through the kynurenine pathway. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
