G-Biosciences' PEROXsay™ is a rapid, accurate and inexpensive colorimetric, quantitative peroxide assay that measures the oxidation of ferrous (Fe2+) ions to ferric (Fe3+) ions.

G-Biosciences' PEROXsay™-LIPID is a lipid compatible, colorimetric quantitative peroxide assay that permits and measures the oxidation of ferrous (Fe2+) ions to ferric (Fe3+) ions in the presence of lipids without the need for extraction steps.

Peroxides react with a sugar alcohol, converting it to a peroxyl radical that subsequently starts the oxidation of ferrous ions to ferric ions. The acidic pH of G-Biosciences' PEROXsay™ assay allows the ferric (Fe3+) ion to complex with the colorimetric reagent (xylenol orange), resulting in a change in absorbance that is proportional to the peroxide concentration.

G-Biosciences' PEROXsay™ and PEROXsay™-LIPID are suitable for quantifying the level of protein damaging peroxides in biological solutions, for measurement of lipid peroxidation of low density lipoproteins and liposomes, and for monitoring protein glycation. The PEROXsay™ assay is designed for microtiter plates, but can be scaled up for use with one milliliter cuvettes.
