Inhibited apoptosis induced by diverse stimuli. Preincubation of cells with this caspase-1 (ICE) inhibitor (50 µM) almost completely inhibited the formation of large kilobase-pair fragments of DNA, a characteristic biochemical change associated with apoptosis.
