Human Leptin (22-56)
Supplier: BACHEM AMERICAS INC
Leptin, the product of the obese gene (ob), is a hormone secreted by adipocytes. Administration of recombinant mouse leptin in ob/ob mice - homozygous ob mutants suffering from obesity - corrected both overeating and obesity. Moreover leptin reduced the appetite and weight of mice with diet-induced obesity, and caused significant loss of body weight and fat content in lean mice. For other Leptin fragments please inquire.
After central administration of this leptin fragment by feeding in the rat inhibition of food intake was observed. Leptin (22-56) depolarized rat hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus neurons. This leptin fragment was shown to enhance the proliferative activity of both the normal myometrium and myoma cells in primary culture.
