The C-terminal dipeptide Gly-Glu was shown to be an effective neurotrophic factor for the maintenance of acetylcholinesterase at both superior cervical ganglia in the denervated cat. Moreover, β-endorphin can bind to serum glycoproteins at sites for which glycyl-L-glutamic acid competes. A potential impurity of glycyl-L-glutamine used as source for L-glutamine.
