Description: Ambra1 Antibody: Autophagy, the process of bulk degradation of cellular proteins through an autophagosomic-lysosomal pathway is important for normal growth control and may be defective in tumor cells. It is involved in the preservation of cellular nutrients under starvation conditions as well as the normal turnover of cytosolic components. Beclin-1, a principal regulator of autophagosome formation, is in turn regulated by Ambra1. Ambra1 associates with Beclin-1 through a region near its center as determined by yeast two-hybrid assay. Null mutations in this gene in mice resulted in embryonic lethality with severe neural tube defects associated with autophagy impairment, accumulation of ubiquitinated proteins, unbalanced cell proliferation and excessive apoptotic death. Furthermore, down-regulation of Ambra1 in cultured cells though RNA interference decreased the level of rapamycin- and nutrient starvation-induced autophagy. Multiple isoforms of Ambra1 are known to exist.

Description: Unc93b Antibody: The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) protein Unc93b, a human homolog of the C. elegans Unc93 gene, was initially identified by a forward genetic screen using N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea where a histidine-to-arginine substitution in Unc93b caused defects in Toll-like receptor (TLR) 3, 7 and 9 signaling. Unlike Unc93a, another homolog of the C. elegans Unc93 gene whose function is unknown, Unc93b specifically interacts with TLR3, 7 and 9; the histidine-to-arginine point mutation used to identify Unc93b abolishes this interaction. Mice carrying this point mutation are highly susceptible to infection with a number of viruses, indicating that Unc93b plays an important role in innate immunity.

Description: Slitrk6 Antibody: SLIT and NTRK-like family 6 (Slitrk6) is a member a protein family consisting of six homologous transmembrane proteins (Slitrk1-6) that share two conserved leucine-rich repeat domains in the extracellular domain and have significant homology to Slit, a secreted axonal growth-controlling protein. These proteins are also homologous to trk neurotrophin receptors in their intracellular domains. Expression of Slitrk proteins is highly restricted to neural and brain tumor tissues, but varies within the protein family. Slitrk6 expression has been observed in tissues such as tongue, lung, gastrointestinal tract, and pancreas. Like every other Slitrk protein except Slitrk1, overexpression of Slitrk6 inhibited neurite outgrowth in cultured neurons, suggesting that these proteins are involved in the control of neurite outgrowth. At least two isoforms of Slitrk6 are known to exisit.

Description: LGI2 Antibody: The leucine-rich, glioma inactivated gene 2 (LGI2) is a member of the LGI family in which LGI1 is the exemplar. The LGI family consists of four of highly related proteins containing leucine-rich repeats (LRRs) which are highly similar to other transmembrane signaling molecules and receptors. LGI1 has been identified as a candidate tumor suppressor gene for glioma and plays a role in autodominant lateral temporal epilepsy (ADTLE), an epileptic syndrome characterized by focal seizures with predominant auditory symptoms. Despite its high homology with LGI1 and similar pattern of expression, mutations in LGI2 have not been found to be associated with ADTLE.

Description: ELOVL6 Antibody: Lipogenesis is a key event in the energy storage system and is controlled by the transcription factor sterol regulatory element-binding protein (SREBP)-1. Elongation of very long chain fatty acids protein 6 (ELOVL6) is a member of fatty acyl-CoA elongase gene family that converts palmitic to stearic acid and it has been shown to be a target of SREBP-1, playing an important role in de novo synthesis of long-chain saturated and monosaturated fatty acids in conjunction with fatty acid synthase and stearoyl-CoA desaturase ELOVL6 was predicted to be important for tissue fatty acid composition. Recent studies suggest that inhibition of this elongase could be a new therapeutic approach for ameliorating insulin resistance, diabetes and cardiovascular risks, even in the presence of a continuing state of obesity.

Description: AIFM3 Antibody: Apoptosis, also known as programmed cell death, plays major roles in development and normal tissue turnover in addition to tumor formation. Recently a protein similar to the apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) was cloned and designated AIFL (also known as AIFM3). AIFM3 is expressed ubiquitously and is predominantly localized to the inner membranes of mitochondria. Unlike AIF, AIFM3 does not translocate to the nucleus upon induction of apoptosis. However, overexpression of AIFM3, like AIF, induced cytochrome c release from the mitochondria, cleavage of caspase 3, and ultimately apoptosis, indicating AIFM3 induces apoptosis through caspase activation. Multiple isoforms of AIFM3 are known to exist.

Description: LIN9 belongs to the lin-9 family and acts as a tumor suppressor. It inhibits DNA synthesis. Its ability to inhibit oncogenic transformation is mediated through its association with RB1. LIN9 plays a role in the expression of genes required for the G1/S transition.

Description: LACTB belongs to the peptidase S12 family. LACTB is a protein from the large 39S subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome (mitoribosome). It has some sequence similarity to prokaryotic beta-lactamases but most of the residues that are responsible for the beta-lactamase activity are not conserved between the two proteins. This gene encodes a protein from the large 39S subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome (mitoribosome). Description: HMBS is a member of the hydroxymethylbilane synthase superfamily. It is the third enzyme of the heme biosynthetic pathway and catalyzes the head to tail condensation of four porphobilinogen molecules into the linear hydroxymethylbilane. Description: Members of the Hedgehog (Hh) family are highly conserved proteins which are widely represented throughout the animal kingdom. The three known mammalian Hh proteins, Sonic (Shh), Desert (Dhh) and Indian (Ihh) are structurally related and share a high degree of amino-acid sequence identity (e.g., Shh and Ihh are 93% identical). The biologically active form of Hh molecules is obtained by autocatalytic cleavage of their precursor proteins and corresponds to approximately the N-terminal one half of the precursor molecule. Although Hh proteins have unique expression patterns and distinct biological roles within their respective regions of secretion, they use the same signaling pathway and can substitute for each other in experimental systems. Recombinant E. coli derived Human Sonic HedgeHog is a 20.0 kDa protein consisting of 176 amino acid residues, including an N-terminal Ile-Val-Ile sequence substituted for the natural occurring chemically modified Cys residue.

Description: Epigen is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the ErbB receptor-1. It is produced in several tissues, including the testis, liver, heart and in certain tumor cells. Epigen is mitogenic for fibroblasts and epithelial cells. Human Epigen is initially synthesized as a glycosylated 14.7 kDa transmembrane precursor protein, which is processed by proteolytic cleavage to produce a mature soluble sequence. Recombinant human Epigen is a 7.9kDa monomeric protein, containing 72 amino acid residues, which comprises the EGF homologous portion of the Epigen precursor.
