Description: This small molecule RGD peptidomimetic αvβ3 integrin antagonist contains both anionic and cationic binding sites that straddle the RGD binding domain of the αvβ3 integrin. The IC₅₀ for XJ 735 αvβ3-mediated inhibition of human and porcine cell adhesion, and vascular smooth muscle cell migration, ranged from 0.6 to 4.4 µM. In contrast, IC₅₀ for porcine or human αIIb/β3, α4β1, αvβ5, and α5β1 inhibition exceeded 100 µM.

Description: The PACAP selective antagonist PACAP (6-38) is a potent and selective inhibitor of PACAP-27-stimulated pituitary adenylate cyclase with a Ki values of 150 nM.

Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: This C-terminal fragment was shown to suppress the noradrenaline release from sympathetic nerve endings. It thereby mimics the effects of PYY and NPY at presynaptic (Y₂) receptors. The peptide was also able to compete with NPY for essentially all binding sites in rat brain.

Description: An LRF-amide motif containing fragment of malignant melanoma metastasis suppressor KiSS-1. It bound with low nanomolar affinity to the rat and human G protein-coupled receptor GPR54 expressed in Chinese hamster ovary K1 cells and stimulated PIP₂ hydrolysis, Ca²⁺ mobilization, arachidonic acid release, ERK1/2 and p38 MAP kinase phosphorylation, and stress fiber formation but inhibited cell proliferation.

Description: The pentapeptide YIGSR located within domain III of the laminin B1 chain, represents a major receptor binding site in laminin. By competing with laminin for the cell surface receptor, the short peptide is able to inhibit cell attachment to basement membranes, thus preventing the formation of tumor metastases. YIGSR also promotes tumor cell migration and, moreover, mediates the adhesion of a variety of epithelial cells to laminin.

Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: Highly selective human VPAC1 receptor agonist. It showed a 1000-fold higher efficiency in stimulating adenylate cyclase activity from VPAC1 than from VPAC2 receptors and therefore represents an effective pharmacological tool to characterize VPAC1 receptor-mediated events.

Supplier: Bachem Americas
Description: This hexapeptide FRET substrate is derived from the p24/p15 cleavage site of the viral gag-pol poly-protein. A simple, continuous fluorometric assay for HIV protease has been developed, which allows the screening of potential HIV protease inhibitors. Values for Km (2.1 μM) and kcat (7.4 s⁻¹) were calculated from steady-state data at a low concentration of the enzyme. Excitation at 280 nm, emission at > 435 nm.

Description: Like orexin A, orexin B (OXB) is a hypothalamic neuropeptide regulating the feeding behavior. Central administration of OXB to rats stimulated food consumption in a similar manner to orexin A, but the effect did not last as long as that of orexin A. The affinity of orexin B for the OX₁ receptor is significantly lower (IC₅₀ = 240 nM) than that of orexin A. Binding affinities for the OX₂ receptor are similar for orexin A and B (IC₅₀ = 38 nM and 36 nM, respectively, for displacement of radiolabeled orexin A bound to the receptor).

Description: The porcine homolog of gastric inhibitory polypeptide (6-30) amide (human) also known as glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (6-30) amide (human) has been found to antagonize the induction of cAMP production of gastric inhibitory polypeptide (human) (GIP (human)) (H-5645) in vitro. In competitive binding studies it has been shown to exhibit receptor binding affinity equivalent to the gastric inhibitory polypeptide (human) (IC₅₀ = 3.08 ± 0.57 nM).

Description: CNP, a member of the natriuretic peptide family, was first identified in porcine brain and later found in other mammals as well as non-mammals. Processing of the CNP precursor gives rise to CNP-22 and its N-terminally elongated form, CNP-53. The CNPs share considerable sequence homology with ANP and BNP within the disulfide loop and exert similar pharmacological actions, although with different relative potencies. CNP-22 is a potent and selective activator of the human BNP cell surface receptor, a transmembrane guanylyl cyclase. This ligand-receptor pair may be involved in the regulation of fluid homeostasis by the central nervous system.

Description: Antimicrobial peptides are produced by plants and most organisms throughout the animal kingdom including humans. Antimicrobial peptides protect against a broad range of infectious agents, as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. The amphibian skin is an especially rich source of antimicrobial peptides. See also the product families: Hepcidins LL-37 and Fragments Tuftsin and Analogs (subfamily).
