Description: Perilipin is an intracellular neutral lipid droplet protein that is hormonally regulated. This protein is localized exclusively to the surface of lipid droplets. In response to lypotic stimuli, perilipin is phosphorylated by protein kinase A. Once activated, perilipin has inhibitory affects upon hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL), a protein that mediates the hydrolysis of triacylglycerol, the major form of stored energy in the body. Perilipin expression is limited to adipocytes and steroidogenic cells. There are currently two known isoforms, Perilipin A and B. Both of these proteins are encoded by a single-copy gene and are the result of differential splicing events.

Description: May act as an oxidative stress mediator by inhibiting thioredoxin activity or by limiting its bioavailability. Interacts with COPS5 and restores COPS5-induced suppression of CDKN1B stability, blocking the COPS5-mediated translocation of CDKN1B from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. Functions as a transcriptional repressor, possibly by acting as a bridge molecule between transcription factors and corepressor complexes, and over-expression will induce G0/G1 cell cycle arrest. Required for the maturation of natural killer cells. Acts as a suppressor of tumor cell growth. Inhibits the proteasomal degradation of DDIT4, and thereby contributes to the inhibition of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1).

Description: UGT8, also known as galacotosylceramide synthase or CGT (ceramide galactosyltransferase), is a key enzyme for galacotosylceramide (GalCer) biosynthesis. It is an ER transmembrane protein and has limited tissue distribution, with predominance in Schwann cells, oligodendrocytes, kidneys, testes, and intestine. UGT8 is highly enriched in myelin in the central nervous system. Its expression levels are strongly associated with histological typing in human oligodendrogliomas and astrocytomas; can be used as molecular marker to distinguish these tumors. Higher UGT8 levels had also been linked to metastatic properties of cancer cells. This antibody specifically recognizes the endogenous UGT8.

Description: This antibody recognizes a 53 kDa protein, identified as the Ornithine Decarboxylase (ODC-1). ODC is the initial and rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway of polyamines and is involved in the conversion of ornithine to putrescine. The biological activity of ODC-1 is rapidly induced in response to virtually all agents known to promote cell proliferation including hormones, drugs, growth factors, mitogens, and tumor promoters. Reportedly, ODC mRNA levels are elevated in lung carcinomas as well as in colon adenomas and carcinomas. ODC activity in colorectal carcinomas is greater than those in adenomas and normal mucosa.

Description: Toll-Interacting Protein (TOLLIP) is a member of the tollip family. TOLLIP localizes to the cytoplasm. It contains one C2 domain and one CUE domain. TOLLIP is an inhibitory adaptor protein for Toll-like receptors (TLR). The Toll-like receptors pathway is a part of the immune system that recognize structurally conserved molecular patterns of microbial pathogens, resulting in an inflammatory immune response. TOLLIP constitutes a complex with Tom1 to regulate endosomal transferring of ubiquitinated proteins. TOLLIP can negative regulate Toll-like receptors signaling, which may limit the production of proinflammatory mediators during the process of inflammation and infection.

Description: Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase(NAMPT) has two usual synonyms termed Visfatin and PBEF. Its primary role is to catalyze the condensation of nicotinamide with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate to yield nicotinamide mononucleotide, an intermediate in the biosynthesis of NAD, which is the rate limiting component in the mammalian NAD biosynthesis pathway. NAMPT is localized in cytoplasm and expressed in large amounts in bone marrow, liver tissue, and muscle tissues. NAMPT inhibits neutrophil apoptosis in experimental inflammation and clinical sepsis. NAMPT levels are altered in plasma of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and it is now evidenced that NAMPT may plays a role in lipid metabolism.

Description: Core component of nucleosome. Nucleosomes wrap and compact DNA into chromatin, limiting DNA accessibility to the cellular machineries which require DNA as a template. Histones thereby play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication and chromosomal stability. DNA accessibility is regulated via a complex set of post-translational modifications of histones, also called histone code, and nucleosome remodeling. H3 is deposited into chromatin exclusively through a DNA replication-coupled pathway that can be associated with either DNA duplication or DNA repair synthesis during meiotic homologous recombination.

Description: This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the mitochondrial inner membrane and catalyzes the conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone, the first and rate-limiting step in the synthesis of the steroid hormones. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The cellular location of the smaller isoform is unclear since it lacks the mitochondrial-targeting transit peptide. Description: TIGAR is a p53-inducible enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of fructose-2-6 bisphosphate (F-2-6-BP) to fructose-6-phosphate and inorganic phosphate. F-2-6-BP is a powerful activator of 6-phosphofructose-1 kinase, the rate limiting enzyme of glycolysis. By lowering the intracellular level of F-2-6-BP, TIGAR expression leads to increased glucose processing via the pentose phosphate pathway, the major cellular source for NADPH. Protein transduction using TAT fusion proteins represents an alternative methodology for introducing transcription factors and other intracellular proteins into primary, as well as transformed, cells. Description: PRODH(Proline dehydrogenase 1, mitochondrial) is also named as PIG6, HSPOX2, PRODH1, PRODH2, POX, SCZD4, TP53I6 and belongs to the proline oxidase family. It is an oxidoreductase involved in the transfer of redox potential across the mitochondrial membrane and catalyzes the rate-limiting oxidation of proline to pyrroline- 5-carboxylate (P5C). High PRODH activity is sufficient to induce mitochondria-mediated apoptosis in the presence of proline. Defects in PRODH are the cause of hyperprolinemia type 1 (HP-1) and defects in PRODH are associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia type 4 (SCZD4). This protein has 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing with the molecular mass of 68 kDa, 59 kDa and 56 kDa.

Description: Netrin-1 controls guidance of CNS commissural axons and peripheral motor axons. Its association with either DCC or some UNC5 receptors will lead to axon attraction or repulsion, respectively. It also serve as a survival factor via its association with its receptors which prevent the initiation of apoptosis. Netrin-1 is also Involved in tumorigenesis by regulating apoptosis. Netrin-1 promotes atherosclerosis by retaining macrophages in the artery wall. Netrin-1 also governs induced pluripotent stem cell (iPS) formation and improves reprogramming efficiency of human and mouse somatic cells by limiting apoptosis mediated by Netrin-1 receptors DCC or UNC5b.
