Description: This gene is located within the region of chromosome 9p that harbors tumor suppressor genes critical in carcinogenesis. It is an intronless gene which is downregulated in non-small-cell lung cancer and small-cell lung cancer cell lines, suggesting that it may play a role in lung tumorigenesis.

Description: Members of the BAGE gene family encode antigens that are recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes and are also known as CT (cancer/testis) antigens. Generated by juxtacentromeric shuffling of the MLL3 gene, the ancestral BAGE gene was expanded by acrocentric exchanges and/or juxtacentromeric movements. BAGE, also known as B melanoma antigen 1 or cancer/testis antigen 2.1, is a 43 amino acid member of the BAGE family. Generally, BAGE proteins are not expressed in normal tissues, except in testis, but are expressed highly in melanomas, bladder carcinomas, head and neck squamous cell carcinomas, and lung and breast cancer carcinomas. BAGE proteins are not expressed in renal, colorectal and prostatic carcinomas, leukemias and lymphomas.

Description: SPTBN1 is the non-erythrocytic form of β-spectrin or β-fodrin. Spectrins are members of the superfamily of F-actin cross linking proteins that are important as scaffolding proteins for protein sorting, cell adhesion, and migration. Reduced expression of SPTBN1 has been found to correlate with shorter survival of patients with hepatocellular cancer, pancreatic cancer and other malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract, suggesting tumor suppression ability of this protein.

Description: Dact3 Antibody: The Wnt signaling cascade is a conserved process in multicellular animals that plays important roles during development and can contribute to cancer and other diseases. Many members of this pathway are also expressed in the postnatal tissues such as brain. One such protein is Dact3, a member of the Dact protein family that was initially identified through binding to Disheveled (Dvl), a cytoplasmic protein essential to Wnt signaling. Dact3 is expressed in the ventral region of maturing somites, limb bud and branchial arch mesenchyme, embryonic CNS, and the adult brain. Recent evidence shows that Dact3 acts as a negative regulator Wnt/beta-catenin signaling that is repressed at the transcriptional level in colorectal cancer and this repression is associated with bivalent histone modifications. This repression can be reversed by pharmacological agents that targets both histone methylation and deacetylation, suggesting that Dact3 may be a potential target for therapeutic treatment of this cancer. At least three isoforms of Dact3 are known to exist.

Description: SSX8 belongs to the family of highly homologous synovial sarcoma X (SSX) breakpoint proteins. These proteins may function as transcriptional repressors. They are also capable of eliciting spontaneously humoral and cellular immune responses in cancer patients, and are potentially useful targets in cancer vaccine-based immunotherapy. SSX1, SSX2 and SSX4 genes have been involved in the t(X;18) translocation characteristically found in all synovial sarcomas.

Description: Breast cancer metastasis-suppressor 1 (BRMS1) is 246 amino acid protein that acts as a mediator of metastasis suppression in several types of cancer including ovarian, lung, bladder, and murine mammary. BRMS1 mRNA is expressed in various tissues, including ovary, prostate, testis, and colon, but the protein is primarily detected in term placenta. BRMS1 suppresses metastasis without inhibiting tumorigenicity by modifying several metastasis-associated phenotypes. BRMS1 may participate in transcriptional regulation by binding to the mSin3/histone deacetylase complex. The expression of BRMS1 in certain cells increases connexin Cx43 expression and reduces connexin Cx32 expression. This produces a gap junction that increases intercellular communication, similar to those found in normal breast tissue. BRMS1 is stabilized by Hsp90 and may inhibit NF-â…¹B activity.

Description: The PrimaCell™ system has been developed for the acquisition and growth of primary cells from a variety of different tissue types. Each PrimaCell™ kit has been optimized for each cell type to produce 4-7 times the number of primary cells obtained from published literature protocols. Each kit comes with 100 ml of tissue washing medium, our optimized tissue dissociation system OptiTDS™, 500 ml of growth medium, and enough growth supplements and serum to add to the supplied medium. Kits that require a Fibroblast control system also come with our FibrOut™ kit (added to the growth medium) which reduces or eliminates Fibroblast growth after 2-3 cell growth cycles.

Description: TGF beta(transforming growth factor beta), with 390-amino acid protein (about 43 kDa), is a multifunctional peptide that controls proliferation, differentiation, and other functions in many cell types. In mammals, three isoforms of TGFbeta, that is, beta1, beta2,and beta3,are known. TGF beta is one of numerous inhibitory factors produced by cancer cells that regulate antitumor immunity. TGF beta1 takes part in the local response in the course of primary lung cancer and TGFbeta1 is thought to be implicated in breast cancer progression.TGFbeta1 also plays a critical role in the downregulation of microglial responses minimizing brain inflammation and thus avoiding exacerbation of brain damage.

Description: Expressed in epithelial cells of the colon, fallopian tube, skin, breast, prostate, epididymis, liver, pancreatic islets and bile ducts, as well as by vascular endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, fibroblasts, cortical and ganglionic neurons and cardiac myocytes. Also expressed by malignant epithelial cells in colon cancer, as well as breast, prostate, renal and skin tumors. Expression is significantly reduced in colon cancer compared to normal colon.

Description: Hippostatin, also known as KLK11, is a kallikrein-like serine protease, which has two alternatively spliced isoforms, brain-type and prostate-type. Hippostatin plays a role in the prostate, including reproductive and/or tumorigenic functions. Elevated serum levels of KLK11 were found in 70% of women with ovarian cancer and in 60% of men with prostate cancer. Analysis of the KLK11 biomarker in serum may aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of ovarian and prostatic carcinoma.

Description: This gene encodes a type II transmembrane serine protease. The encoded protein has an extracellular region that consists of two domains, a catalytic serine protease domain and a non-catalytic scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domain. This protein may be involved in diverse cellular functions including blood coagulation, maintenance of cell morphology and the growth and progression of certain cancers, particularly prostate cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
