Description: Interleukin 17A (IL-17A), also known as CTLA-8, is a member of the IL-17 family of proteins. IL-17A is a proinflammatory cytokine that is secreted by activated CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes. IL-17A acts through its receptor, IL-17R, to promote increased cytokine and chemokine secretion. In turn, the cytokines and chemokines mediate the immunoregulatory function of IL-17A by promoting the proliferation, maturation, and chemoattraction of neutrophils to inflammatory sites. Elevated levels of IL-17A are associated with rheumatoid arthritis, airway inflammation, allograft rejection, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, cancer, and multiple sclerosis. Human, mouse, and rat IL-17A show activity on mouse cells.

Description: This MAb reacts with a membrane-associated protein present in normal and malignant neuroendocrine tissues including small cell lung cancer (SCLC). It stains neural and a variable number of endocrine tissues and in the lung it reacts preferentially with SCLC and carcinoids. Its epitope is destroyed during formalin fixation. This antibody was categorized during the First International Workshop on Small Cell Lung Cancer Antigens held in London in April 1987. There are two major types of Lung Carcinoma: non-small cell, which accounts for 80% of all cases; and small cell, which accounts for roughly 20% of all lung cancers reported. The lung continues to be a customary place for cancer migration from tumors elsewhere in the body. Treatment depends on the specific cell type of the cancer, level of progression and status of the individual patient.

B7 family molecules, which are expressed on antigen-presenting cells and display extracellular regions containing immunoglobulin (Ig) variable (V)- and constant (C)-like domains, are known to modulate T cell receptor (TCR)-mediated T cell activation by providing co-signals that are either stimulatory or inhibitory. B7-H3 provides a stimulatory signal to T cells. However, recent studies suggest a negative regulatory role for B7-H3 in T cell responses. B7-H3 inhibited T cell proliferation mediated by antibody to T cell receptor or allogeneic antigen-presenting cells. B7-H3 is a negative regulator that preferentially affects T(H)1 responses. B7-H3 may play an important role in muscle-immune interactions, providing further evidence of the active role of muscle cells in local immunoregulatory processes. Recently, B7-H3 expression has also been found in a variety of different human cancers, including prostate cancer, clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer (CRC) and urothelial cell carcinoma. B7-H3 was expressed in some human cancers and correlated with poor outcome of cancer patients.
