Description: BMP2 belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily of secreted growth factors. It is a disulfide-linked homodimer and induces bone and cartilage formation. In addition to its osteogenic activity, BMP2 plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis and is expressed in a variety of tissues including lung, spleen, brain, liver, prostate ovary and small intestine. The functional form of BMP2 is a 26 kDa protein composed of two identical 114 amino acid polypeptide chains linked by a single disulfide bond. BMPs control fundamental events in early embryonic development, organogenesis and adult tissue homeostasis.

Description: This peptide corresponds to the GAP26 domain of the extracellular loop of the major vascular connexins (Cx37, Cx40), designated as 37,40Gap 26 according to Cx homology. It was used to investigate the role of gap junctions in the spread of endothelial hyperpolarizations evoked by cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) through the wall of the rodent iliac artery. The gap junction plaques constructed from Cx37 and Cx40 were abundant in the endothelium. This peptide provides inhibitory effects against subintimal hyperpolarization

Description: The 26 S proteasome is a 2.5-MDa molecular machine that degrades ubiquitinated proteins in eukaryotic cells. It consists of a proteolytic core particle and two 19 S regulatory particles (RPs) composed of 6 ATPase (RPT) and 13 non-ATPase (RPN) subunits. PSMD11 gene encodes 19S proteasome subunit RPN6. Increased levels of PSMD11 and a corresponding increased assembly of the 26S/30S proteasome is correlated with high proteasome activity. In vitro ectopic expression of PSMD11 is sufficient to increase proteasome assembly and activity. Latest research has implicated PSMD11 in regulation of human embryonic stem cells function.

Description: Annexin VI belongs to a family of calcium-dependent membrane and phospholipid binding proteins. Although their functions are still not clearly defined, several members of the annexin family have been implicated in membrane-related events along exocytotic and endocytotic pathways. The annexin VI gene is approximately 60 kbp long and contains 26 exons. It encodes a protein of about 68 kDa that consists of eight 68-amino acid repeats separated by linking sequences of variable lengths. It is highly similar to human annexins I and II sequences, each of which contain four such repeats. Exon 21 of annexin VI is alternatively spliced, giving rise to two isoforms that differ by a 6-amino acid insertion at the start of the seventh repeat. Annexin VI has been implicated in mediating the endosome aggregation and vesicle fusion in secreting epithelia during exocytosis.

Description: BMPs (Bone Morphogenetic Proteins) belong to the TGF-β superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins. BMP-2 is a potent osteoinductive cytokine, capable of inducing bone and cartilage formation in association with osteoconductive carriers such as collagen and synthetic hydroxyapatite. In addition to its osteogenic activity, BMP-2 plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis, and is expressed in a variety of tissues, including lung, spleen, brain, liver, prostate ovary and small intestine. The functional form of BMP-2 is a 26 kDa protein composed of two identical 114 amino acid polypeptide chains linked by a single disulfide bond. Each BMP-2 monomer is expressed as the C-terminal part of a precursor polypeptide, which also contains a 23 amino acid signal sequence for secretion, and a 259 amino acid propeptide. After dimerization of this precursor, the covalent bonds between the propeptide (which is also a disulfide-linked homodimer) and the mature BMP-2 ligand are cleaved by a furin-type protease. Recombinant Human/Murine/Rat BMP-2 is a 26.0 kDa homodimeric protein consisting of two 115 amino acid polypeptide chains.

Description: Tumor necrosis factor type 1 receptor-associated protein 2 (TRAP2), encoded by PSMD2 gene, is a non-ATPase regulatory subunit of the 26 proteasome which is involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. The 26S proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with a highly ordered structure composed of 2 complexes, a 20S core and a 19S regulator. The 19S regulator is composed of a base, which contains 6 ATPase subunits and 2 non-ATPase subunits, and a lid, which contains up to 10 non-ATPase subunits. TRAP2 may also participate in the TNF signalling pathway since it interacts with the tumor necrosis factor type 1 receptor.

Description: In cardiac tissue brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is synthesized as 134 amino acid precursor (prepro-BNP), which is cleaved by proteases to form a 26 aa ""signal"" peptide and a 108 aa pro-BNP. Proteolytic digestion of pro-BNP results in formation of 76 aa amino-terminal NT-proBNP and biologically active 32 aa BNP hormone molecule. Both proBNP and NTproBNP circulate in human plasma and have been proposed as markers for early diagnosis of left ventricular dysfunction as well as prognostic markers of possible cardiac complications at patients with heart failure.
