Description: CAPN6 Antibody: Calpains make up a ubiquitously expressed, well-conserved family of calcium-dependent cysteine proteases. The calpain proteins are heterodimers consisting of an invariant small subunit and variable large subunits. This large subunit possesses a cysteine protease domain, and both subunits possess calcium-binding domains. Calpains have been implicated in neurodegenerative processes as their activation can be triggered by calcium influx and oxidative stress. Calpain 6 (CAPN6) is most similar to Calpain 5; the C-terminal region of CAPN6 lacks homology to the calmodulin-like domain of other vertebrate calpains. CAPN6 is thought to be involved in the regulation of microtubule dynamics and cytoskeletal organization. CAPN6 has also been recently identified as an HIV dependency factor (HDF), suggesting that CAPN6 may be an important drug target in HIV treatment.

Description: This magnesium-dependent enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the transport of calcium.

Catalog Number: (CAPIPA5-15418)
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: Upon cell stimulation, the kinase DGKA converts the second messenger diacylglycerol into phophatidate, initiating the resynthesis of phosphatidylinositols and attenuating protein kinase C activity. DGKA is stimulated by calcium and phosphatidylserine, and is phosphorylated by protein kinase C. Tissue expression is in lymphocytes and oligodengroglial cells. DGKA contains 2 zinc-dependent phorbol-ester and DAG binding domains, and 2 EF-hand calcium binding domains.

Description: Calcium-binding protein. May have a role in calcium homeostasis. Nesfatin-1: Anorexigenic peptide, seems to play an important role in hypothalamic pathways regulating food intake and energy homeostasis, acting in a leptin-independent manner. May also exert hypertensive roles and modulate blood pressure through directly acting on peripheral arterial resistance (By similarity).

Supplier: Bioss
Description: Receptor for extracellular ATP >UTP and ADP. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. May be the cardiac P2Y receptor involved in the regulation of cardiac muscle contraction through modulation of L-type calcium currents. Is a receptor for leukotriene B4, a potent chemoattractant involved in inflammation and immune response.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: Calcium-binding chaperone that promotes folding, oligomeric assembly and quality control in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via the calreticulin/calnexin cycle. This lectin interacts transiently with almost all of the monoglucosylated glycoproteins that are synthesized in the ER. Interacts with the DNA-binding domain of NR3C1 and mediates its nuclear export. Involved in maternal gene expression regulation. May participate in oocyte maturation via the regulation of calcium homeostasis (By similarity).

Description: Spectrin (non erythroid) is a specific marker for human, rat and mouse alpha II spectrin or fodrin. In cerebellar cell cultures, it labels axons and periphery of cell bodies consistent with localization of fodrin. Fodrin, which seems to be involved in secretion, interacts with calmodulin in a calcium-dependent manner and is thus candidate for the calcium-dependent movement of the cytoskeleton at the membrane.

Description: This gene encodes a protein containing a coiled-coil domain. The mouse orthologous protein has been shown to bind copines, which are calcium-dependent, membrane-binding proteins that may function in calcium signaling. Localization of the orthologous rat protein suggests that it may play a role in neuronal injury response. This human gene has been identified as a novel candidate gene for syndromic X-linked intellectual disability. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011].

Description: There are four members (MRGX1-4) in the human MRGX familly. MRGX1 and MRGX2 receptors stimulate both G Alpha q- and G Alpha i -regulated pathways, while MRGX3 and MRGX4 receptors mainly activate G Alpha q-regulated pathways. G Alpha q proteins are involved in the calcium-signaling pathway downstream of the MRGX receptors. MRGX receptors are unique in that they are expressed in a subset of small dorsal root and trigeminal sensory neurons. Probably involved in the function of nociceptive neurons. May regulate nociceptor function and/or development, including the sensation or modulation of pain. Potently activated by enkephalins including BAM22 (bovine adrenal medulla peptide 22) and BAM (8-22). BAM22 is the most potent compound and evoked a large and dose-dependent release of intracellular calcium in stably transfected cells. G(alpha)q proteins are involved in the calcium-signaling pathway.

Description: ASPH is thought to play an important role in calcium homeostasis. Alternative splicing of this gene results in five transcript variants which vary in protein translation, the coding of catalytic domains, and tissue expression. Variation among these transcripts impacts their functions which involve roles in the calcium storage and release process in the endoplasmic and sarcoplasmic reticulum as well as hydroxylation of aspartic acid and asparagine in epidermal growth factor-like domains of various proteins.
