Description: The MEL-14 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with L- selectin (CD62L), a receptor with lectin-like and Epidermal Growth Factor-like domains. The weight of the CD62L molecules depend on their origin: 74 kDa (on lymphocytes) or 95 kDa (on neutrophils). In the Mouseorganism, CD62L can be expressed by most thymocytes, on subsets of B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and neutrophils. The L-selectin binds sulfated, fucosylated, and glycosylated glycoproteins (MadCAM-1, GLYCAM-1, and CD 34). It mediates the migration of lymphocytes to the site of inflammation and their return to the peripheral lymphoid tissues and to the HEV (high endothelial venules). In vitro, L-selectin inhibits this binding and the lymphocyte extravasation into peripheral lymph nodes.

Description: FGF acidic, also known as ECGF, FGF-1and HBGF-1, is a non-glycosylated heparin binding growth factor that is expressed in the brain, kidney, retina, smooth muscle cells, bone matrix, osteoblasts, astrocytes and endothelial cells. It is a mitogenic peptide that is produced by multiple cell types and stimulates the proliferation of cells of mesodermal, ectodermal, and endodermal origin. Its association with heparan sulfate is a prerequisite for activation of FGF receptors. Internalized FGF acidic migrates to the nucleus where it is phosphorylated by nuclear PKC delta, exported to the cytosol, dephosphorylated, and degraded. Intracellular FGF acidic inhibits p53 activity and proapoptotic signaling.

Description: Agarose is a purified linear galactan hydrocolloid isolated from agar or agar-bearing marine algae.
Agarose is useful in separation of nucleic acids electrophoretically because agarose gels have larger pore sizes than cross linked acrylamide gels at low concentrations and in chromatographic separations by either beading the agarose or cross-linking it. Agarose gels are also used in immunoelectrophoresis (IEP) and double-diffusion Ouchterlony plates to demonstrate antibody-antigen reactions. Agarose was used to prepare 0.5% agarose gel for Southern blot analysis of the DNA extracted from primate muscles.
The following is a list of properties associated with our agaroses: Sulfate content - used as an indicator of purity, since sulfate is the major ionic group present. Gel strength - the force that must be applied to a gel to cause it to fracture. Gel point - the temperature at which an aqueous agarose solution forms a gel as it cools. Agarose solutions exhibit hysteresis in the liquid-to-gel transition - that is, their gel point is not the same as their melting temperature. Electroendosmosis (EEO) - a movement of liquid through the gel. Anionic groups in an agarose gel are affixed to the matrix and cannot move, but dissociable counter cations can migrate toward the cathode in the matrix, giving rise to EEO. Since electrophoretic movement of biopolymers is usually toward the anode, EEO can disrupt separations because of internal convection.

Description: Clusterin (SGP-2/sulfated glycoprotein-2; CLI; Apolipoprotein J (Apo J); TRPM-2) is the first identified extracellular mammalian chaperone and appears to be implicated in such diverse processes as sperm maturation, regulation of complement activation, programmed cell death, tissue remodelling and lipid transport. Increases in clusterin mRNA and protein have been consistently detected in apoptotic cell death paradigms, establishing clusterin gene expression as a prominent marker of apoptotic cell loss. A dual role has been shown for clusterin in that cells can be protected from damage and dead cells can be more easily removed after some types of cellular damage.

Description: Decoy receptor 3 (DcR3; TNFRSF6B; M68) is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily. DcR3 shares sequence identity with OPG (31%), TNF-RII (29%) and Fas (17%) and is expressed in a variety of different tissues and at high levels in many malignant tumors. Ligands of DcR3 include Fas ligand, homologous to lymphotoxin showing inducible expression and competing with HSV glycoprotein D for herpes virus entry mediator (a receptor expressed by T lymphocytes), TNF-like molecule 1A and heparan sulfate proteoglycans. DcR3 modulates the function of T cells, dendritic cells and macrophages. DcR3/Fc fusion proteins can bind to human and mouse B cells and suppress the activation of B cells.

Description: ABCC1 is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra-and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This full transporter is a member of the MRP subfamily which is involved in multi-drug resistance. This protein functions as a multispecific organic anion transporter, with oxidized glutatione, cysteinyl leukotrienes, and activated aflatoxin B1 as substrates. This protein also transports glucuronides and sulfate conjugates of steroid hormones and bile salts. Alternative splicing by exon deletion results in several splice variants but maintains the original open reading frame in all forms. Description: Type V collagen is a member of group I collagen (fibrillar forming collagen). It is a minor connective tissue component of nearly ubiquitous distribution. Type V collagen binds to DNA, heparan sulfate, thrombospondin, heparin, and insulin. Collagen V is composed of several subunits as follows: trimers of two alpha 1(V) and one alpha 2(V) chains in most tissues and trimers of one alpha 1(V), one alpha 2(V), and one alpha 3(V) chains in placenta. Type V Collagen is closely related to type XI collagen and it is possible that the collagen chains of types V and XI constitute a single collagen type with tissue specific chain combinations. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers Danlos syndrome, types I and II.

Description: Mouse vascular endothelial growth factor 164 (VEGF 164) is produced as a homodimer. It binds to the FLT1/VEGFR1 and KDR/VEGFR2 receptors, heparan sulfate and heparin. It is a specific mitogen for vascular endothelial cells and a strong angiogenic factor in vivo. In addition to its action as a mitogen it is a potent vascular permeability factor (VPF) in vivo and is also a chemoattractant for monocytes and endothelial cells. It induces endothelial cell proliferation, promotes cell migration, inhibits apoptosis and induces permeabilization of blood vessels. It may play a role in increasing vascular permeability during lactation, when increased transport of molecules from the blood is required for efficient milk protein synthesis.
