Description: YPEL3 Antibody: YPEL3 (yippee-like 3) belongs to a family of five yippee-like proteins, all of which localize to the centrosome or mitotic spindle and are widely expressed in both adult and fetal tissue. This localization plus the fact that the family of human YPEL proteins share a high degree of sequence homology across species suggests that these proteins may have a conserved function involved in cell division. YPEL3 is a p53-regulated gene whose expression is induced by DNA damage and in turn induces cellular senescence. It appears to function as a tumor suppressor as it is downregulated in colon and breast tumors.

Description: This antibody recognizes a 53 kDa protein, identified as the Ornithine Decarboxylase (ODC-1). ODC is the initial and rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway of polyamines and is involved in the conversion of ornithine to putrescine. The biological activity of ODC-1 is rapidly induced in response to virtually all agents known to promote cell proliferation including hormones, drugs, growth factors, mitogens, and tumor promoters. Reportedly, ODC mRNA levels are elevated in lung carcinomas as well as in colon adenomas and carcinomas. ODC activity in colorectal carcinomas is greater than those in adenomas and normal mucosa.

Description: This gene is a member of the N-myc downregulated gene family which belongs to the alpha/beta hydrolase superfamily. The protein encoded by this gene is a cytoplasmic protein involved in stress responses, hormone responses, cell growth, and differentiation. Mutation in this gene has been reported to be causative for hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy-Lom. May have a growth inhibitory role. Ubiquitous; expressed most prominently in placental membranes and prostate, kidney, small intestine, and ovary tissues. Reduced expression in adenocarcinomas compared to normal tissues. In colon, prostate and placental membranes, the cells that border the lumen show the highest expression.

Description: The protein encoded by this gene is part of a complex of proteins that constitute adherens junctions (AJs). AJs are necessary for the creation and maintenance of epithelial cell layers by regulating cell growth and adhesion between cells. The encoded protein also anchors the actin cytoskeleton and may be responsible for transmitting the contact inhibition signal that causes cells to stop dividing once the epithelial sheet is complete. Finally, this protein binds to the product of the APC gene, which is mutated in adenomatous polyposis of the colon. Mutations in this gene are a cause of colorectal cancer (CRC), pilomatrixoma (PTR), medulloblastoma (MDB), and ovarian cancer. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009].

Description: Gremlin-1 (isoform-1) belongs to a group of diffusible proteins which bind to ligands of the TGF-β family and regulate their activity by inhibiting their access to signaling receptors. The interplay between TGF-β ligands and their natural antagonists has major biological significance during development processes, in which cellular response can vary considerably depending upon the local concentration of the signaling molecule. Gremlin is highly expressed in the small intestine, fetal brain, and colon and lower expression in brain, prostate, pancreas and skeletal muscle. Gremlin-1 regulates multiple functions in early development by specifically binding to and inhibiting the function of BMP-2, -4, and -7. It also plays a role in carcinogenesis and kidney branching morphogenesis. Recombinant Gremlin-1 is a 13.7 kDa protein containing 160 amino acid residues.

Description: Rb is a tumor suppressor gene which functions as a negative regulator of the cell cycle by interacting with transcription factors including E2F1, PU1, ATF2, UBF, Elf1 and cAbl. This ability of Rb to alter transcription is regulated by phosphorylation catalyzed by the cyclin dependent protein kinases (cdks). Rb is phosphorylated on serine and threonine, but not on tyrosine residues. It forms a complex with SV40 large T antigen, adenovirus E1A, and human papilloma virus 16E. Rb protein may act by regulating transcription and loss of its function leads to uncontrolled cell growth. Aberrations in the Rb gene have been implicated in cancers of breast, colon, prostate, kidney, nasopharynx, and leukemia.

Description: FOP, is a 399 amino acid protein that localizes to the centrosome and contains one LisH domain. Expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in kidney, heart, muscle, colon, liver, testis and pancreas, FOP functions as a homodimer that interacts with EB1 and CEP350 and is essential for anchoring microtubules to centrosomes. Chromosomal aberrations that involve the FOP gene are associated with the pathogenesis of stem cell myeloproliferative disorder (MPD), a condition that is characterized by eosinophilia and myeloid hyperplasia and ultimately leads to acute myeloid leukemia. FOP is expressed as multiple isoforms that are produced by alternative splicing events.

Description: ZC3H12D Antibody: ZC3H12D, also known as MCPIP4, is a member of a family of novel CCCH-zinc finger proteins that includes ZC3H12A, a protein that is thought to be involved in macrophage activation, host immunity and inflammatory diseases. ZC3H12D is highly expressed in spleen, intestine, and colon. Similar to ZC3H12A and ZC3H12C, ZC3H12D expression in murine macrophages is also increased after treatment with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), although not to the same level as ZC3H12A. This pattern of expression was not duplicated in human-derived macrophages, suggesting it also may play a different role in host immunity and inflammatory response.

Description: Chemokine (C-C Motif) Ligand 28 (CCL28) is a novel chemokine that shares the most homology with CCL27/CTACK. CCL28 shows chemotactic activity for resting CD4, CD8 T-cells and eosinophils. It Binds to CCR3 and CCR10 and induces calcium mobilization in a dose-dependent manner. CCR10 (GPR2 orphan receptor) is also the receptor for CCL27/CTACK. CCL28 is preferentially expressed by epithelial cells of diverse tissues, with highest expression level in normal and pathological colon. It is also expressed in normal and asthmatic lung tissues. Human and mouse CCL28 shares 83% sequence identity in their mature regions.

Description: Stathmin (STMN1) is a ubiquitous cytosolic phosphoprotein which belongs to the Stathmin family. STMN1 is expressed in many tissues, with the highest expression in the brain, spinal cord, and cerebellum. It can also be expressed in the colon, ovary, placenta, uterus, and trachea. STMN1 participates in the regulation of the microtubule filament structure by destabilizing microtubules. STMN1 promotes the disassembly of microtubules and prevents assembly. STMN1 is involved in the control of the learned and innate fear. STMN1 is an intracellular relay integrating regulatory signals of the cellular environment and as an Oncoprotein in regulation of the cell cycle. Phosphorylation at Ser-16 may be required for axon formation during neurogenesis. Mutation in STMN1 effects cell homeostasis that may lead to tumorigenicity.

Description: S100P protein is a relatively small (95 amino acid) isoform of the S100 protein family that was first isolated from human placenta. Overexpression of S100P has been detected in several cancers such as breast, colon, prostate, pancreatic and lung carcinomas, and the protein has been functionally implicated in carcinogenic processes. S100P protein is widely expressed in both normal and neoplastic tissues. It clearly shows ectopic expression in some cancers. Based on the high expression in certain tumors, S100P could represent a potential target for novel diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
