Description: AATF Antibody: AATF (apoptosis antagonizing transcription factor) was initially discovered as an interaction partner of ZIP kinase (ZIPK), a member of death-associated protein (DAP) kinase family of pro-apoptotic serine/threonine kinases. AATF is a phosphoprotein containing an acidic region and a putative leucine zipper domain and nuclear localization signal, features which are typical of transcription factors. AATF inhibits the ZIPK-mediated pro-apoptotic pathway and may activate other anti-apoptotic pathways. Recently, it has also been shown to protect neural cells against oxidative damage induced by amyloid b-peptide and to inhibit aberrant production of the beta-peptide by interacting with Par-4 (prostate apoptosis response-4), another pro-apoptotic leucine zipper protein that is associated with neuronal degeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD), suggesting that AATF may have potential therapeutic applications in both familial and sporadic forms of AD.

Description: First is a 297 amino acid protein that contains a putative carboxy-terminal coiled-coil domain. With highest expression in embryonic dorsal retina and, during later embryonic stages, the anterior epithelial cells of the lens, it is suspected that EURL may play a role in cell determination and differentiation. The gene encoding EURL maps to the long arm of chromosome 21, which houses approximately 300 genes and comprises nearly 1.5% of the human genome. Chromosome 21-associated disorders include Alzheimer's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and, most notably, Down Syndrome (also known as trisomy 21).

Description: TRIM5 gamma Antibody: TRIM5 is a member of a broad family of otherwise unrelated proteins defined by the presence of a tripartite motif containing a RING domain, a B-box type 1, and a B-box type 2, followed by a coiled-coil region. TRIM5 has five alternately spliced isoforms, the longest of which is the alpha variant which also contains a carboxy-terminal B30.2 (SPRY) domain. While a function has not yet been assigned to TRIM5gamma, it is known that expression of TRIM5 alpha variants from humans, rhesus monkeys, and African green monkeys enable resistance to infection by various retroviruses including HIV-1, albeit at differing efficiencies. Furthermore, the TRIM5 delta isoform appears to serve as a scaffold for the assembly of endogenous BTBD1 and BTBD2 proteins and also exhibits autoubiquitination activity in a RING finger- and UbcH5B-dependent manner.
