Description: BAG-1 Antibody: Bcl-2-associated athanogene 1 (BAG-1) was first identified as an anti-apoptotic bcl-2-binding protein. Later it was found to bind the molecular chaperones Hsp70 and Hsc70 through its carboxy-terminal sequence (termed the Bag domain), resulting in the inhibition of the refolding activity of these chaperones. It is thought that by binding and inhibiting these molecular chaperones, BAG-1is able to modulate the expression level of proteins requiring chaperones to fold correctly. One such group of proteins that are affected is glucocorticoid receptors. Other reports have suggested that the level of BAG-1 expression correlates with the aggressiveness of various cancers. Multiple isoforms of BAG-1 are known to exist.

Description: AATF Antibody: AATF (apoptosis antagonizing transcription factor) was initially discovered as an interaction partner of ZIP kinase (ZIPK), a member of death-associated protein (DAP) kinase family of pro-apoptotic serine/threonine kinases. AATF is a phosphoprotein containing an acidic region and a putative leucine zipper domain and nuclear localization signal, features which are typical of transcription factors. AATF inhibits the ZIPK-mediated pro-apoptotic pathway and may activate other anti-apoptotic pathways. Recently, it has also been shown to protect neural cells against oxidative damage induced by amyloid b-peptide and to inhibit aberrant production of the beta-peptide by interacting with Par-4 (prostate apoptosis response-4), another pro-apoptotic leucine zipper protein that is associated with neuronal degeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD), suggesting that AATF may have potential therapeutic applications in both familial and sporadic forms of AD.

Description: HDAC7 is a member of the class II mammalian histone deacetylases, which plays an important role in modulating the eukaryotic chromatin structure. Human HDAC7 is composed of 912 amino acid residues. Although HDAC7 is localized mostly to the cell nucleus, it is also found in the cytoplasm, suggesting nucleo-cytoplasmic shuttling. The histone deacetylase activity of HDAC7 maps to a carboxy-terminal domain and is dependent on interaction with class I HDACs in the nucleus. It is an active component of different transcriptional corepressor complexes that can be recruited to specific promoter regions via interactions with a growing number of sequence specific transcriptional factors. HDAC7 catalyzes removal of acetyl-groups from acetyl-lysines of histones and promotes compaction of chromatin in these regions, leading to the inhibition of gene transcription.
