Frog Heart Clamps
Clamps General Purpose Clamps
Frog heart clips, also known as frog heart clamps or holders, is a laboratory surgical instrument used in cardiovascular research involving the hearts small animals.

  • Surgical grade stainless steel
  • 17 or 24 mm long
  • 0.6 or 2.5 mm diameter
  • Flat loops

Frog heart clips are primarily used to immobilize and stabilize the frog's heart during procedures. In many cardiovascular experiments, researchers need to remove the heart from a frog while keeping it alive and functional, and this clip secures the heart without damaging it. By immobilising the heart, they can attach electrodes or sensors to monitor physiological parameters such as heart rate, contractility, or response to different drugs and stimuli or to deliver a controlled stimulation. These are surgical grade stainless steel, suitable for autoclaving or chemical sterilisation.

It's important to note that the use of frog hearts in research is a well-established practice in physiological and pharmacological studies, as the frog heart is relatively robust and can continue beating even when isolated from the body. However, the use of animals in research should be conducted in accordance with ethical guidelines and regulations, and efforts should be made to minimise harm and distress to the animals involved. Researchers often follow strict protocols and anesthesia methods to ensure the humane treatment of frogs and other experimental animals.
