Pierce™ Glycoprotein Carbohydrate Estimation Kit and Reagents, Thermo Scientific
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Pierce™ Glycoprotein Carbohydrate Estimation Kit enables the amount of protein glycosylation to be measured as a percentage of total purified protein mass.
- Enables quick and easy identification of an unknown protein sample as a glycoprotein
- Assess sugar and carbohydrate contamination in non-glycosylated protein samples
- Complementary to electrophoresis, Western blotting and ELISA-based procedures often used to detect glycoprotein
- Determines carbohydrate content in three easy steps: oxidize, react and read
- Entire assay can be performed in less than 75 minutes
Kit includes six purified glycoprotein standards and the required assay reagents to effectively estimate the amount of oxidizable glycosylation (percent carbohydrate by weight) of purified protein samples. Sugar groups in the glycoprotein sample are first oxidized with sodium meta-periodate to produce detectable aldehyde groups. Then the sample is reacted with the colorimetric glycoprotein detection reagent. Absorbance at 550 nm of the resulting purple reaction product is measured with a spectrophotometer or plate reader. Finally, the carbohydrate content in the glycoprotein is calculated by comparison to results from the five glycoprotein standards that are included in the kit.
Delivery information: Kit contains Negative Control (Lysozyme and BSA) (2.5 mg each), Positive Control (Ovalbumin) (2.5 mg each), Apo-Transferrin (2.5 mg), Fetuin (0.25 mg), ?1-Acid Glycoprotein (0.25 mg), Sodium Meta-Periodate (500 mg), Glycoprotein Detection Reagent (500 mg), and Glycoprotein Assay Buffer (250 mL).
