Agilent stainless steel and brass skimmer bases optimize the temperature of the skimmer cone tip.

  • Agilent 7700, 7800, 7900, 8800, 8900 ICP-MS skimmer cone base are avilable in either stainless steel or brass
  • The operating temperature of the skimmer cone tip is controlled by the skimmer base material
  • The stainless steel base is used for nickel (Ni) skimmer cones. The platinum skimmer cone should only be used with the brass skimmer base
  • The ion extraction lenses (x-lens or s-lens) are fixed to the skimmer base
  • The correct type for lens configuration and ICP-MS model (7700, 7800, 7900, 8800, 8900) is required

The skimmer base ensures the correct operating temperature of the skimmer cone to prevent damage by overheating or increased drift due to excess matrix deposition at the tip if the cone runs too cool. Firmly install the sampling and the skimmer cones on the skimmer base. If the interface cones are not tightly installed on the base, there may be insufficient cooling, which can degrade analytical performance
