Barrel nebulizers for Agilent AA instruments that feature the Mark V or Mark VI atomization system. The adjustable impact bead in the flame atomization system helps aerosol formation.

  • Nebulizers are available in either Hi-vac or adjustable configurations
  • Each nebulizer is fully serviceable and can be easily maintained by the user
  • Fit organic resistant O-rings to ensure organic compatibility
  • Optional inert PTFE bead available for use with samples that have high concentrations of dissolved solids, or hydrofluoric acid which can etch or chemically attack the standard glass impact bead

Barrel nebulizers are used with earlier Agilent AA instruments with the Mark V/Mark VI atomization system. They are available in adjustable or Hi-vac versions. The Hi-vac nebulizer is used with aqueous solutions and can be set to either the high vacuum or the high solids setting. The high vacuum setting provides optimum performance with samples that have low levels of dissolved solids. The high solids setting reduces blockage with samples that have high levels of dissolved solids. The adjustable nebulizer with adjustable uptake rate is ideal for use with organic solvents. Each nebulizer comprises easily-interchanged capillary assemblies for low cost maintenance, and is fabricated with materials that ensure maximum performance and corrosion resistance.

Impact beads are compatible with the current Mark 7 and earlier Mark V and Mark VI atomization systems used with Agilent flame AA instruments. Adjusting the impact bead position during optimization of the flame AA provides control over sensitivity, noise, interference effects, calibration linearity and working range, and potential for burner blockage.

The atomization system determines the analytical performance of a flame AA spectrometer. The spray chamber promotes intimate mixing of the nebulized aerosol with fuel. Proper spray chamber design ensures minimal carbon build-up, plus reduced burner blockage and volatilization interferences. The Agilent flame AA spray chamber has an adjustable glass bead positioned in front of the nebulizer venturi, which breaks up the aerosol droplets and provides the operator with control over the aerosol concentration. Removable twin-head mixing paddles twice reverse the direction of aerosol rotation, promoting further mixing and large droplet removal. This ensures a fine aerosol, which reduces burner blockage and noise, and improves long-term signal stability.
