Sparkle Labs E-Textile Kit Lab Pack
Educational Materials Arts and Crafts Kits and Supplies
This kit is designed to take students new to computing and sewing through a series of projects where they learn simple, parallel and computational circuitry, sequencing, conditional logic, sensor reading, functions and related programming in Arduino, 3D crafting and design, and computational thinking practices such as debugging, iteration, revision, problem solving, and algorithmic thinking.

  • Reusability not just for e-textile projects
  • Beginners to experts
  • Easy to program

You will learn how to sew basic circuits to light up LEDs, control them with buttons and switches and sensors. Alligator Clips let you test your circuits before you sew them.

An illustrated step-by-step instruction for using your pieces to create four complete sewable circuit projects with conductive thread. Easy-to-follow diagrams and troubleshooting tips make this a great introductory resource for crafters, programmers and students.

Start your journey with Microsoft MakeCode block-based or Javascript programming. Then, you can use the same board to try Circuit Python, with the Python interpreter running right on the Express. As you progress, you can advance to use Arduino IDE, which has full support of all the hardware down to the low level, so you can make powerful projects. You can even use code.org CS Discoveries to learn all about coding right in your browser!

Circuit Playground Express includes 10×mini NeoPixels, each one can display any color; 1×motion sensor (LIS3DH triple-axis accelerometer with tap detection, free-fall detection); 1×temperature sensor (thermistor); 1×light sensor (phototransistor), can also act as a color sensor and pulse sensor; 1×mini speaker with class D amplifier (7.5 mm magnetic speaker/buzzer); 2×push buttons, labeled A and B; 1×slide switch; infrared receiver and transmitter can receive and transmit any remote control codes as well as send messages between Circuit Playground Expresses, can also act as a proximity sensor; 8×Alligator-Clip friendly input/output pins; includes I2C, UART, eight pins that can do analog inputs, multiple PWM output; seven pads can act as capacitive touch inputs and the one remaining is a true analog output; green 'ON' LED so you know its powered; red '#13' LED for basic blinking; reset button; ATSAMD21 ARM Cortex M0 processor, running at 3.3 V and 48 MHz; 2 MB of SPI flash storage, used primarily with CircuitPython to store code and libraries; MicroUSB port for programming and debugging; USB port can act like serial port, keyboard, mouse, joystick or MIDI!

Delivery information: Each lab pack includes 5×Circuit Playground Express boards in place of the Lilypad; 5×Needle Set; 5×USB Micro-B Cable-6' ; 5×110 mAh LiPo Battery; 5×Multicolored Alligator-Clip (10 pack); 10×Conductive Thread Bobbin; 10×Sewable Star LED - White; 10×Sewable Moon RGB LED.
