A silica-based density gradient media for use in separating cells, organelles, viruses, and other subcellular particles. Percoll® comprises silica particles coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and is commonly used in basic research applications. Also used in balanced salt solutions, physiological saline or 0.25 M sucrose, and for formation of gradients either by the use of convenient gradient mixers or by high speed centrifugation. Colloidal solution of silica coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). Liquid/suspension. Colorless to slightly yellow. Certificate of Analysis is available.
