Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) is typically used in cell culture media as a buffer.
- Endotoxin and Mycoplasma Tested
- Osmolality: 290 ± 5% mOsM/kg H₂O
- Sterile Filtered (0.1 μm)
Although NaHCO3 does not have the buffering capacity of HEPES, it is occasionally preferred over HEPES because of both its lower toxicity and nutritional value to cells in culture. Directions: Dilute the Sodium Bicarbonate 7.5% (0.893M) in the appropriate cell culture medium. Typically, Sodium Bicarbonate is diluted to a final concentration of 5-15 mM.
